Indiana’s Portland Arch Nature Preserve is the site of Portland Arch as well as typical Indiana wildlife. From Attica (SW of Lafayette) near the Wabash River, go south on US41 for about 5 miles and then west on County Rd. 650N to the town of Fountain. From Fountain, follow the signs to the Preserve. The trail from the first of two parking lots leads to the arch. The trail is listed as moderate-to-rugged terrain, and is well-marked. Don’t let the “rugged” moniker deter you, for it is a moderate, short hike through a wooded and moist habitat.
