Automaton is a sentient robot from the future. He was originally owned by Larry Wexler (Black Cat) but eventually ended up in the possession of Damon Damian, the leader of the POWER SQUAD. Due to his sentience, he was originally given the code-name CYBORG. When his original body was nearly destroyed in a fight with the Sponge, Damian rebuilt him and christened him AUTOMATON. He was sent back in time where he became a member of the SUPERIORS.
