This is a 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Tribute. I built this car as
close to my original 1968 442 as I could and even nicer than my
original. This car has a 1969 Olds Toronado 455. It has around
400 horsepower with only 11 miles on it. I added an Edelbrock
Torker intake manifold and headers. The exhaust is brand new with
flowmasters. The transmission is an original Muncie M21 Rock Crusher
4-speed. It has a 12 bolt rear end and the wheels are vintage
Cragar SS'. 15x8.5 on the rear and 14x7 on the front. The shifter
is an original 1968 442 shifter arm and Hurst Competition Plus
shifter. It also has an original 1969 Olds rear spoiler/wing.
New air shocks and brakes. The car itself has 96,000 miles on
it. It has drum brakes all around. I put an original 442 ralley
steering wheel on it and vintage Auto Meter gauges and tach. Even
the shifter boot is the correct factory non-console boot. The
442 emblems are original and the grill is an original 442 grill
and emblem. The grill is broken in a few places. The paint is
one week old and is deep black with a metal flake gold stripe.
A 2-stage epoxy primer was laid down first. There are brand new
polished stailness steel 442 exhaust trumpets welded on.
This was not a "frame off" restoration. It's not
perfect and is over 40 years old. It runs very strong and sounds
great. The floors were rust free and in great shape. The glass
is good for it's age and there are a couple of chips in the windshield.
The windows work properely, the horn does not work or the speedometer
after I put the 4-speed transmission in it. The radio is the factory
original but does not turn on. The wipers work nicely as they
should. The lights all work properly as they should.
Please watch the youtube video of it starting and running.
