In the year 3934, on the planet Jupiter a remarkable set of twins were born. QUENTIN DOBBS and his sister TERESA were gifted from the very beginning. Their parents were wealthy and shielded the twins from society, fearful that their "gifts" would be misunderstood. Quentin and Teresa were true children of the night, going into a near comatose state during the daytime hours. In the pale glow of Jupiters' moons, they were gifted with superhuman strength and vitality. They could glide through the air on thin membranes that mystically appeared on their arms when they concentrated. Their eyes had a remarkable spectrum of vision, enabling them to literally see in the dark. They were also capable of creating their own natural radar, reading impulses they gave off like a bat. Under great stress they could even attain a state of near-invisibility...like a transparent ghost. Quentin became the masked avenger known as PHANTOM BAT, joining the premiere super-team of his era, the legendary CIRCLE. Teresa joined a group known as the PROTECTORS for a short time, then went on to become a founding member of the FURIES. She dubbed herself PHANTOM GIRL during this period of her life. In the year 3958, the Circle turned back an invasion by the hostile alien race known as the MOBLEES. In the final battle, Quentin Dobbs was fatally wounded. Grief stricken, Teresa claimed his body and returned it to the family estate for burial. Teresa was the last surviving member of her family, and left Jupiter to wander through outer space. She claimed the mantle of PHANTOM BAT as her own before disappearing into the void, seemingly forever. Phantom Bat has turned up alive and well, popping out of a ODYSSEY HOLE into 21st century Earth, complete with new costume and holes in her memory.
