Ship / class history:

What makes this vessel different however from Fighter Shuttles before it, is the ability to achieve warp speed. Due to recent developments in nano-technology a new type of Warp engine has come into existence. It uses the basic warp field technology, but requires over 52 % less space. Although this technology has not been used in Starships at present it is proving highly successful in the 'NXC' prototypes of the Typhoon.

The power for the Warp system is provided by a micro matter/anti-matter reactor, which contains enough anti-matter for 24 Hrs sustained warp flight at warp 1.0. Due to energy demands, when any vessel is in flight, (i.e. for navigational deflector system, SIF generators, etc.) the more the Typhoon exceeds warp 1.0 the quicker the anti-matter is reduced and the shorter the vessel can remain at warp.

This new vessel is an ideal advancement in technology, capable of planetary and space travel. Although a small vessel, it is more the capable of acting alone in a recon mode, attack mode or defence mode. At present the first versions of the Typhoon bearing the 'NXC' registry will be sent to the 21st Marine Support Squadron for a trial/shake down period. Only time will tell how these vessel fair.

PWF-12A Original Model with normal Phasers

PWF-12B Newer Model with pulse Phasers

The Peregrin Fighter was Starfleet's first attempt at a heavy fighter design. It was developed in 2367 and designed to help in fleet actions by causing the enemy vessels to split their fire amongst multiple targets, whilst delivering a powerful punch itself. Capable of a top cruise speed of warp 4.5 it has a similar speed to that of a Rogue, allowing it to operate short distances away from it's homebase or carrier vessel. However, it is common practice for these vessels to be used at impulse.

During the Dominion war, the Peregrin was pressed into service and the class saw heavy losses. One of the most prominent battles the Peregrin Class saw action in was the battle to reclaim Deep Space 9 from the Dominion-Cardassian Alliance.

Ship / class history:

These vessels are constructed to civilian standards and have less powerful warp drives than most of the Federations primary warships but they do have a powerful impulse engine and have good combat performance. The Raiders are operated much like a large fighter and much like the Klingon Birds of Prey. Like many ships their size and smaller, the Raider can land on planets. The hull of the vessel is less strong than a purpose built corvette might but can still withstand enough damage to be worthwhile. The whole design is modular and is designed for easy replacement. When sold to outside interests, the shields were replaced by civilian shield generators but were upgraded back to military standards in the vessel that the Maquis refitted.

In weapon systems, most of the Maquis Raiders have salvaged weapon systems. This makes for a huge amount of variation but listed is the most common design. Most common beam weaponry are two mounts of heavy phaser cannons mounted with one on each of the wings of the vessel. These weapons are normally fired forward and are capable of destroying a fighter quickly and swarming threatens even the most powerful of larger vessels. While the vessels originally did not carry them, many have been refitted with mini-photon torpedo launchers. These are good for powerful pinpoint attacks. Finally, these vessels can carry up to 24 full sized photon torpedoes carried underneath the Raider.

These ships were designed to use a crew of twelve but can be operated quite well by as small a crew as four. Unlike most older Corvettes, the Raider was designed to be able to carry about twenty troops along with the standard crew. The vessels accommodations are fairly comfortable for its size but cannot support a flag officer even in emergency. Because the vessels have no small craft, the ships either must use transporters, hard dock themselves, or land on a planet to disembark or embark personnel.

Ship / class history:

The Bajoran Assault Ship was used almost exclusively in the fight with the Cardassians during the Occupation. They have also been used in the Circle seige of 2370, and recently in the Bajoran blockade of Derna against the Romulans by Colonel Kira in 2375. All in all, a good solid fighter, but hardly a match for most of the ships it is put up against.
