Ship / class history:
The Danube Class was designed to be a general long distance shuttle craft for use from a Starbase Environment. In the years before, the Federation was relatively small and hence people could catch transports and other forms of shuttle, however in the later part of the 24th Century, what with the expansion of the Federation, Starfleet officers found a little dillema in the fact that transportation was becoming a problem. This was the very reason Starfleet ordered the building of the Danube Class. More commonly known as a Runabout (nick named after a twentith century small motor vehicle) these ships were to be capable of warp travel, science and research and ultimately combat situations if the situation arose.
Danube 2 Class:
Ships of its class:
NCC-72599 USS Euphrates - Decommissioned (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)
NCC-72603 USS Tigris - Recalled (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)
NCC-72639 USS Hudson - Active (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)
NCC-72711 USS Mystic - Active (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)
Ship / class history:
The Danube 2 class is simular to the Danube except for the upgrades and tranporter tecnology that was adapted into it. The Danube 2 also came with ablative armor. Abaltive armor was not put on any other runabout class other than the Danube 2 class of the 7th Fleet. These ships were first used in the Dominion war in 2373.
Yellowstone Class:
Ships of its class:
NX-74751 USS Yellowstone - Destroyed
NCC-70073
Ship / class history:
Another varient of Runabouts was the Yellowstone. It had modified engines. Other than that they are identical. The Danube class has performed roles adiquately over the year in service, however it can be said that there are certain risks with the design in combat situations and Starfleet is worried about the constant loss of Runabouts. Station Deep Space Nine is at this moment the worst 'offender' for destroying Runabouts.

NCC-73222 USS Po - Decommissioned (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)
This New Runabout Desgin was designed and built within 8 months, It was in service in 2374 for the second year of the Dominion war. It was sent right to the front lines as a Companion to the Danube 2, It is larger and can carry 16 men rather then the 10 that the Danube's can Haul. her sheilds are also far stronger.
This type reinforced Federation and Klingon Positions on the Front Lines on over a Dozen Worlds and Bases with much needed troops, supplies and weapons. because of their new stealth systems they could also get closer to the front but because they were lightly armed they couldn't fight like fighters or perform like Starships. (Starfleet Commands 7th fleet)

Ship / class history:
Over the years these shuttles became the standard short range shuttles for starfleet ships. Small fast comfortable and easy to build these ships are ideal for crew transfers between ships and starbases or for landing missions. Due to the nature of their mission these shuttles aren´t heavily armed but the shields will even resits some type 10 phaser shots (2 or 3). Normally the crew consits of two pilots but the shuttle is capable of transporting up to 4 passengers. It´s also fitted with a small standard replicator and a primitive short range transporter.

Starfleet Academy uses this small sublight craft for the flight training of cadets.
Greg Jein designed and built this small vessel for TNG: "The First Duty", based on a sketch by Rick Sternbach. An official schematic of the trainer craft is not available. The above side view replaces the completely wrong depiction in the ST Encyclopedia II that actually shows a Federation fighter.
These flight trainers are used for basic flight training at Starfleet academy. They´re capable of stunt flying and in 2367 a member of a group of cadets flying the illegal Koolvord Starexplosion maneuver was killed when the crafts collided.

Ship / class history:
Along with the Work Bee, the various Sphinx Workpod types are a common site in any large Federation shipbuilding facility. Intended never to be far from its parent facility, the Workpod was designed to allow greater user hands-on control of the various functions involved with day-to-day construction and repair. With more tools then the Work Bee, the Sphinx M1A and M2A are used primarily to manipulate spaceborne hardware during construction. The Sphinx MT3D is a third variant of this robust design, and can be used for towing objects to and from the construction site. Furthermore, a group of MT3D units can work together to tow larger objects into place, including most starship classes, when large tractor emitters are not an option. All three variants utilize the same basic systems, and are small enough to fit inside of a Type-9A Cargo Shuttlecraft. All variants of the Sphinx Workpod are commonly found at Federation Fleet Yards and Starbases, as well as on larger Starfleet vessels.
