V: The Series Episode Guide
There is a slite miscalculation with the series. An episode that was filmed called Breakout was not shown in the US. But it is considered an episode 3. Breakout and the Deception are two episodes where Kyle joins the resistance for the first time.
"Liberation Day"
October 26, 1984
Review:
The episode begins immediately after the doomsday device has been deactivated aboard the Mothership. While Martin begins to pilot the ship back to Earth, Diana's fighter is noticed hurtling away. Mike runs to the shuttle bay, takes another fighter, and pursues her to Earth. He manages to land several shots on her ship, forcing her to crash land. Mike lands his fighter nearby and tackles Diana. During the struggle he attempts to choke her, but she uses her strength to knock his hands away and hits him on the head with a large rock. Before she can escape or do any more damage, two hunters arrive to help.
One year later, news crews celebrate "Liberation Day" with Elias at his newly opened restaurant, Club Creole, where Willie is also employed. He sends a message out to his old friends in the Resistance, saying that if they ever need his help they know where to find him.
News crews are also on hand at the Mothership, now on land in the desert, where Nathan Bates' company, Science Frontiers, has been working to unlock the secrets of the Visitors technology. It was Science Frontiers that manufactured the red-dust toxin that Julie discovered. Mike and Julie take part in a televised interview with Nathan, while Martin acts as Mike's assistant and soundman.
Robin, living with her father and Elizabeth at Robert's ranch, confides to her father that she is worried about Elizabeth. Robert encourages Robin to take a break from her responsibilities with a visit to Santa Cruz. As they are talking, a helicopter news crew arrives in an attempt to speak to Elizabeth. As Robert and Robin head toward the corral, Elizabeth uses her powers to push the helicopter away.
Mike, who the network has been trying to convince to work as an anchorman, shows Juliet his jealousy over her relationship with Nathan. Julie tries to allay his fears by explaining that Nathan is merely worried, as Diana will not reveal the codes that will allow Science Frontiers to continue their research. Mike is also worried because he had sent his son Sean away to a state school, where he is making little progress. Mike and Julie resolve their differences and he whisks her away for a private moment.
In his office, Nathan watches the news report on Elizabeth's powers, followed by an update on Diana's upcoming trial. He is interrupted by the arrival of Ham Tyler, now the owner of a high-tech security agency. Nathan reveals that he knows much of Ham's past, and offers Ham a job "providing security". He offers Ham $500,000 to take the job.
En route to the courthouse to cover Diana's trial, Mike tries to convince Martin that the trial is necessary - Martin believes that Diana should simply be killed. Martin take an anti-toxin pill (which Nathan also markets) to control the effects of the red dust in the atmosphere; he has only one pill left and must get more later in the day, as each pill only lasts for 12 hours.
Robin decides to go to Santa Cruz for a few days, leaving Elizabeth in the care of her father.
Diana arrives for her trial with a full police escort, extra security guards, and wearing a gas mask. Groups of protesters vie with the cameramen covering the trial for the best view. From the edge of the crowd a man pulls a gun and shoots Diana. As pandemonium ensues, Diana is taken by stretcher to an ambulance. Mike and Martin attempt to follow, but all access is blocked by a convenient car accident in the parking lot. Spotting a helicopter, Mike and Martin hop inside and manage to take to the air before the rightful owner can reach them.
Martin and Mike scour the city for the ambulance, and finally spot it entering an underpass. When the ambulance does not exit the underpass, Mike realizes that a large transport truck did not enter from the other side - he concludes that the ambulance is inside the truck, and they continue to follow the truck.
While Robert watches the attempt on Diana's life replayed on the news, Elizabeth comes to him complaining that her arm hurts. When Robert checks it out, he notices that a small portion of her skin has pulled away, revealing whitish scales underneath. Trying to remain calm for Elizabeth's sake, Robert calls Juliet. By the time Julie arrives, the skin on Elizabeth's entire arm has pulled away to reveal pulsing white scales.
The transport truck arrives at a remote cabin, where it is met by Ham. The ambulance is unloaded, and Ham orders that Diana be brought inside the cabin before she can be spotted by the distant helicopter.
Diana is placed in an isolation chamber where she remains when Nathan arrives to offer her a deal - her co-operation with the Mothership and Visitor technology in return for the anti-toxin and partial freedom. While Diana considers the offer inside, Ham and Nathan go outside where Ham reminds Nathan of their own bargain - when Nathan is finished with Diana, Ham gets her.
Having tracked down the truck, Mike and Martin arrive at the cabin on foot. Mike insists that they get proof that Diana is alive, then go for the police - but Martin knows that Diana must pay the final price for her crimes. Martin knocks Mike unconscious with his camera and heads to the house. He lures one guard outside and knocks him unconscious as well, then rushes inside and forces the second guard to drop his gun. Martin rips open Diana's isolation tent and holds the gun on her. Before he can fire he is distracted by the second guard, and in the ensuing scramble Diana gets the gun.
Mike awakens to find the cabin burning and Martin crawling towards him. After warning him that Diana will signal the fleet, Martin tells Mike that Diana took his final anti-toxin pill. Martin attempts to say more but is overcome and dies in Mike's arms.
At Robert's cabin, Julie confides that she cannot control whatever is happening to Elizabeth. She fears that Elizabeth may be gaining the Visitor's true appearance. While they are talking, Elizabeth gets out of bed and leaves the ranch on her horse - Julie and Robert quickly follow.
The next morning Diana, clad in civilian clothing, is stopped by the roadside with car trouble when a trucker pulls over to assist. Diana accepts a ride heading towards the Southwestern Tracking Station, a fully automated facility.
Ham informs Nathan of Diana's escape, and refuses to work for Nathan any longer. Ham heads out to search for Diana himself, knowing that she will attempt to contact the fleet. Nathan sends his own man out after Ham.
When the truck driver who picked Diana up pulls over on a side road and attempts to get amorous, Diana pretends to play along - then kills him. Heading towards the tracking station on foot, she blasts the locked gate with her laser pistol. Mike, meanwhile, spots Diana's abandoned car and realizes where she is headed.
Elizabeth finds a cave in the hills which is surrounded by rattlers and other snakes. Unconcerned, she heads inside. Juliet and Robert track Elizabeth there, where they see a strange green light coming from the cave mouth. They hear Elizabeth screaming, but are forced to clear away the rattlers before they can get to her. Inside, Elizabeth is in what appears to be a huge pod. Julie realizes that Elizabeth is going through another metabolic change, and refuses to let Robert interfere.
At the Tracking Station, Mike hears someone walking through the halls and attacks - though it turns out to be Ham. The men hear a homing signal and realize that Diana has succeeded in calling the fleet. They find the device and, as Mike attempts to turn it off, Diana fires a laser blast at him. Mike warns Diana that her 12 hours of safety from the red dust are almost up - as she runs out, Ham blasts the homing computer. Mike and Ham decide to split up to find Diana.
When Mike arrives outside he finds himself on a raised platform, with Diana below holding a gun on him. She forces him to drop his weapon, but when her watch goes off (to let her know that her protection against the red dust is up), Mike takes advantage of her distraction by jumping off the platform.
Diana's shuttle arrives just as Mike lands from his jump, and limping, he runs after her. She is almost to the shuttle when she turns - Mike shoots her several times in the chest, but her armour protects her. As Diana boards the shuttle Mike shoots her twice more in the back, but again she is protected by her armour. One of the shuttle troopers fires at Mike, and he is knocked backwards by the blast. Ham arrives in time to see Diana's shuttle take off.
In the cave, Robert and Juliet watch in horror as the pod containing Elizabeth begins to split in two.
Safely away from Earth and heading towards the amassed Motherships hiding behind the Earth's moon, Diana's pulls the bullets from Mike's gun out of her vest and plans her next move.

Review:
After Diana's escape, Mike and Ham discuss their situation, including the fact that Diana should be dead from the effects of the red-dust toxin. Ham explains his presence by saying that he was suspicious of Diana's "death" and went to the morgue to investigate, where he discovered that the body being passed off as Diana's was a year-old Visitor corpse. When the police arrive, Mike tries to speak to them, but the cops pull their guns and begin firing. Ham swings by in his car and Mike jumps in, and a high-speed chase ensues. Mike is eventually able to shoot out one of the police car's tires, forcing it to flip.
Elizabeth completes her metamorphosis and emerges as a fully grown woman. Robert and Juliet take the dazed girl back to Robert's ranch.
On the Mothership, Diana is introduced to Lydia, the Fleet Security Officer. She is informed that the Visitor home planet is now a barren wasteland, and Diana mounts a full scale offensive on Earth. She gives Captain Roland a special assignment - to find Elizabeth and return her to Diana.
Robert discovers that the phone is out of service at the ranch, but is unconcerned. Juliet manages to stabilize Elizabeth's condition though she is unable to speak. Julie cautiously introduces Elizabeth to the new configuration that her body has taken, but Elizabeth remains confused and disoriented.
Robert finally spots the Visitors who have amassed outside the ranch - he and Julie grab some guns to deal with the troop. Hiding Elizabeth under a table, they begin shooting but find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer force of numbers of the Visitors. As the home is invaded, Julie and Robert are captured - when suddenly the red-dust toxin begins working, choking and killing the Visitors. Juliet checks a Visitor device and discovers Elizabeth's picture on its monitor.
When the invasion reports are given to Diana, she sees a pattern: in those areas which have both a warm and cold season, the effects of the red dust on the Visitors is still fatal. She realizes that the toxin needs a dormant cycle to regenerate, and decides to head back to L.A. to ensure that no more of it is placed into the atmosphere.
In Los Angeles and all over the world are scenes of violence and terror. Club Creole is packed with scared refugees when Juliet, Robert, and Elizabeth arrive there asking for sanctuary. Despite Elizabeth's metamorphosis, Willie still recognizes her. Elias agrees to their request, and Julie leaves the group to check in at Science Frontiers.
When Ham and Mike arrive back in the city, they find the streets bombed and fires everywhere. They decide to go to Club Creole, but before they can leave they witness a man being gunned down in the street by a Visitor. They turn the car around and Mike shoots several of the Visitors.
While Nathan is watching the scenes of mayhem replayed on the TV in his office, Diana laser blasts her way through his office doors. Holding a gun on him, she informs Nathan that all toxin storage tanks have been seized. Threatening to kill Nathan and Julie, who had just entered the office, Nathan stalls Diana by explaining that the pulse-ometer on his wrist is set to release the red-dust into the atmosphere if it is either removed from his wrist or if his pulse stops. He offers Diana a bargain: if she will guarantee that there will be no armed troops in L.A., he will not release the red dust into the atmosphere. Diana demands that the captured Mothership be returned to the Visitors as well, and leaves to consider Nathan's offer.
Juliet is shocked that Nathan has sold out so quickly to the Visitors, until he reveals that additional laboratory tests have shown that the red dust toxin is actually harmful to humans.
At Club Creole, Elias hides Robert and Elizabeth in a secret series of rooms beneath the club, which were originally used as a bordello during Prohibition. Hearing noises upstairs, he returns to the Club to find a Visitor troop rounding up the people in the restaurant. Shooting one, he jumps behind the bar. As another Visitor approaches the bar, Ham and Mike arrive and are able to kill the remaining Visitors.
Diana explains to Lydia aboard the Mothership that she is merely using her acceptance of Nathan's bargain to stall for time before the arrival of the Particle Beam Triax, which has the ability to vaporize 100 square meters of land without nuclear fallout. Lydia is shocked that Diana has requested the Triax without the Leader's approval, as its job is to protect the main space lanes, and watches with concern as a beam from the Triax obliterates one of Jupiter's moons.
On television, Nathan announces that he has set up a provisional government with L.A. as an open city. The Resistance members debate their options - Ham wants to kill Nathan outright, while Julie and Mike determine that keeping the Mothership out of Diana's hands should be their first priority. Mike questions Julie's loyalties... Ham, meanwhile, leaves the Resistance meeting in a state of anger.
Julie returns to Science Frontiers and warns Nathan that what he has done will mostly like result in an attempt being made on his life. He agrees to double his security at the treaty signing if Julie will accompany him. He also tries to convince Julie to stay the night at Science Frontiers for safety, but she refuses.
At Club Creole, Mike plans the Resistance attack on the Mothership. Piloting the ship is not a big worry, as there is an auto-pilot option, but the group does not have the proper code to start the Mothership's engine reactor. Elizabeth agrees to go along with the group in case they need her to activate the engines. When Julie informs the others that she must be with Nathan in order for him to remove many of the Mothership's guards, Mike once again gets jealous.
Lydia intercepts a message from the commander of the Triax, meant for Diana, which demands that he be allowed to return to deep space or he will contact the Leader. Lydia destroys the message. Diana plans to leave the treaty conference just before the Triax arrives to reduce the city to rubble.
The Resistance force heads to the Mothership, while news crews arrive to cover the peace conference. In the rafters above the crews, Ham begins assembling a high powered rifle.
The Resistance members are able to reach the Main Bridge of the Mothership. When Willie points out the flight controls, Elizabeth uses her powers to bring the engines on line. As Robert starts the launch sequence, Lydia's ship is informed that the downed Mothership is preparing for lift-off. When Nathan's security guards arrive near the bridge, shots are fired and Robert takes a bullet in the stomach. Elizabeth runs to him, but Robert forces her to return to the flight controls.
With the Triax only 3 minutes from Earth orbit, Willie attempts to bandage Robert's wound, but knows the injury is fatal. Robert activates the engines, and the security guards leave the ship just before it takes off.
At the conference, Ham shoots one of Diana's guards and attempts to shoot Diana. As pandemonium breaks out in the studio, Diana is trapped by the shooting.
When the previously downed Mothership reaches space, they are confronted by the Triax, which Willie recognizes. Knowing that the firepower of the Mothership is no match for it, Robert knows that the Mothership will have to ram the Triax in order to stop it. After bidding a tearful goodbye to Elizabeth and the others, he sets the Mothership to a collision course while the others head to the shuttle bay. Lydia, watching the developments, is unable to fire on the Resistance because the Triax is in her line of fire.
Security guards at the conference search for the sniper, but Ham has managed to get out of the building. Diana leaves in her shuttle, while Nathan thanks Julie for saving his life.
The shuttle holding the Resistance members is wracked by the shock waves from the massive explosion as Robert rams the Triax.
With Diana back on the Mothership, she interrupts Lydia, who is sending a transmission to the Leader informing him of Diana's incompetence and insubordination. When Diana threatens to blame Lydia, who was in charge at the time, Lydia cancels the message.
Back at Club Creole, Elias announces that the Visitors are pulling out of the city - it seems that Nathan and Diana's bargain will stand. Willie and Elizabeth hold a Visitor ritual for Robert, and Julie promises Elizabeth that the will find Robin.
Outside of L.A., Robin attempts to enter the city but discovers Visitor troopers checking all cars. Hemmed in by other vehicles, she sneaks out the side door of her car and heads into the woods.
"The Deception"

Review:
Outside of LA, Robin makes her way through the woods to an almost deserted highway. She hides when a Visitor envoy passes, but comes out of hiding to flag down a passing motorcyclist. Kyle Bates agrees to help Robin get to her father's ranch ... Robin is obviously attracted to Kyle as well. On the ride, they witness a plane crash. When Kyle investigates he finds the dying pilot, who gives him a pouch for "the Fireman" at Club Creole. Though they are chased by Visitors, Kyle and Robin manage to escape when Kyle uses his skills in bike racing to jump a gully.
Diana and Lydia, who were tracking the courier, have learned of Resistance Plans to move Elizabeth , and of Kyle's involvement with the downed pilot. Diana's plan to learn the date of the move includes Sean, who is being kept on the drug Procorp. Diana instructs her trooper to move Sean to the Embassy, where holographic synthesizers are being installed in an interrogation room.
After leaving Robin at his ranch, Kyle heads to Club Creole to deliver the pouch. Mike and Ham are distrustful of him since he is Nathan's son, and they decide to hold him until they can have the message decoded.
At Science Frontiers, Diana confronts Nathan with her suspicions that Kyle has joined the Resistance. While Nathan seems oblivious, Diana plants a bug in the office. Nathan has seen everything, however, and removes the bug before Diana leaves. Juliet decodes the WLF message in her office, and reveals the rendezvous time for Elizabeth's departure, even though she doesn't feel that Elizabeth should be leaving.
Once Julie has decoded the message, Ham clears Kyle to leave Club Creole. Before Kyle leaves he literally bumps into Elizabeth, who falls through a door onto him. When she runs off, Kyle attempts to follow her but is stopped by Elias, who insists that Elizabeth was never there.
On the way back from Science Frontiers, Mike stops off at his house and is shocked to find Sean there. Before Mike can react, Visitor troops attack and immobilize him. Mike wakes up in bed in his room, being tended by Sean and 'Juliet'. Confused and disoriented, he is told that the war has been over for a year - all because Elizabeth went to New York to assist the World Liberation Front, and they were able to develop a new weapon against the Visitors. 'Julie' leaves Mike to rest.
Outside the room, Lydia watches the scene through a two-way mirror. Diana, proud that she made such a convincing 'Julie', warns Lydia that any Visitor entering the room must wear a special necklace ... the necklace reacts with the holographic synthesizers to make the wearer appear to be someone that Mike knows. They believe that they can convince Mike to reveal Elizabeth's rendezvous information.
At Club Creole, Julie finalizes the plans for Elizabeth's trip to New York. To alleviate Elizabeth's fears, Julie agrees to go with her to the rendezvous point. When Julie leaves, Elizabeth confides in Willie about her feelings for Kyle. Juliet, meanwhile, finds Ham working on one of the trucks - though they are a little concerned about Mike's disappearance, they believe that he is looking for cars to use in the rendezvous. Elias and Ham are surprised when Kyle arrives - but Kyle is fascinated by Elizabeth. Ham asks Kyle to help the Resistance by providing some motorbikes for the next day. Kyle agrees.
Diana continues with her plan to learn of the rendezvous site. As 'Julie' she bring Mike some "food", which thankfully Mike refuses, because what he sees as pastry is actually white mice. 'Julie' and Mike kiss, which Lydia finds "disgusting".
Ham decides to check on Mike, and finds the lock broken on his door and a Visitor in his bedroom. Ham breaks the Visitor's neck, and reports to Julie. They decide to continue with the rendezvous as planned.
At the Embassy, Sean brings Mike a folder newspaper, and continues to pump him for information on the rendezvous. Mike finally reveals the site, and Sean quickly leaves to inform Diana.
En route to the site, Ham, Elizabeth, and Julie are forced to abandon their vehicle after running a police checkpoint. While Kyle is preparing the bikes at his ranch, Nathan arrives. Nathan tries to defend his deal with Diana but Kyle remains unconvinced. Though Nathan tries to get Kyle to admit his involvement with the Resistance, Kyle ignores him and leaves the ranch.
Sean reports his information to Diana and Lydia. While Diana supervises the assault on the rendezvous point at China Flats, Lydia receives permission to kill Mike. Meanwhile, in Mike's 'room', he opens the newspaper brought earlier by Sean and discovers that the front page is a picture of Elizabeth - as an 8 year old child! Realizing that he has been duped (for the Visitors do not know that Elizabeth has aged) Mike shatters a window and destroys the illusion. When 'Julie' enters the room with a gun, Mike knocks her out and removes the necklace - revealing Lydia. Mike attacks a guard, steals an Embassy staff car, and escapes.
In the mountains, Kyle meets Elizabeth et al and leads them on a shortcut to China Flats. While the helicopter waits in a ravine, everyone says their good-byes. Both Kyle and Elizabeth regret that they did not have a chance to learn more about each other. As Ham, Elizabeth and Julie (still wearing her motorcycle helmet) make their way to the chopper, Kyle spots the Visitor troops and warns Elizabeth of the ambush. He throws a grenade at the Visitors and leads several of them away as they chase his bike. Ham, Juliet and Elizabeth reach the helicopter, only to find Diana inside - and Diana recognizes Elizabeth.
Kyle manages to evade the pursuing Visitors and heads back to the rendezvous site. Both Kyle and Mike arrive at the same time, just as Diana is about to unmask Julie. As Elizabeth jumps on Kyle's bike and the others pile into Mike's embassy car, Diana is left watching as her plans to attain the Starchild fall apart around her.
The Resistance members celebrate at Club Creole, and Elizabeth decides to stay with her friends in LA. While Kyle refuses to "officially" join the Resistance, he says he'll be around; and Elizabeth shyly smiles
"The Sanction"
November 16, 1984
Review:
In a training exercise, a Visitor (made up to look like Diana) is being stalked by Klaus. When she fails to elude him, he kills her. Diana and Lydia explain to Nathan that this has been a test for Klaus, whom Diana wants to act as Security Officer to protect her legation in LA. Nathan refuses her request.
At Club Creole, the Resistance are shown slides of the Klaus and the Youth Corps - Mike recognizes Sean on the slides. Mike decides to make another attempt to rescue Sean ... Julie, distracted by Mike, snaps at Elizabeth, who she has promised to take outside. Robin, meanwhile, tries the doors to the club but finds them padlocked.
Elizabeth hears Kyle's bike and goes out to meet him. Kyle offers to take Elizabeth on the 'Bates tour of LA'; clutching tightly to Kyle, the two speed away. Upon their return, Kyle leaves Elizabeth while he buys them some ice cream, and Elizabeth then spots Robin going into a movie theatre across the street. She tries to get inside the theatre to Robin, but is stopped by 2 ushers and the manager. Almost incoherent and confused, Elizabeth subconsciously uses her powers to overpower the three men, throwing them into the wall. Seeing Elizabeth in trouble, Kyle grabs her and they take off on the bike.
At the Visitor Embassy, Donovan bribes his way into the building and grabs Sean, who was being trained in combat techniques by Klaus. Diana sees them leave, and authorizes Mike's death. Though they are pursued by Klaus and two Visitor patrolmen, Mike greases the road and escapes.
Nathan has been told about the commotion at the theatre, and is aware that it involved Kyle and a girl. Nathan summons Mr. Chiang and orders him to find them both. At Club Creole, Juliet and Elias are also frantically looking for Elizabeth - and Julie blames herself for the disappearance because of her earlier abruptness with Elizabeth.
Kyle and Elizabeth head to the nearby hills to avoid the Visitors. They come across a horse whom Kyle cannot touch, but whom Elizabeth tames instantly. When more Visitors arrive, Kyle and Elizabeth are forced to escape on the horse.
Mike takes Sean to a safe house, where he tries to convince the boy that he cannot accept the 'simple' truths being taught by Klaus. Mike throws Sean's Visitor Youth Pin to the ground, and Sean runs off - but not before telling Mike about one of the Youth Corps tests: to kill ones parents. Klaus, tracking the pair, finds the Pin. He takes off his right hand, which is mechanical, and attaches an electrical whip, which he uses to flatten the van's tires. He finds Mike and Sean on the porch looking at a family picture. Ordering Sean to return to the Embassy, Klaus attacks Mike, who defends himself with a wooden bench. Mike knocks Klaus into a ravine and leaves him for dead.
Sean makes his way to the road, where he is picked up by Ham. After telling Ham that Mike is dead, he manages to knock Ham out and runs off.
Elizabeth and Kyle spend the night by a riverbank. After Kyle makes sure that there are no Visitors around, they decide to return the horse and head back to Club Creole. Elizabeth deftly avoids Kyle's questions about the events at the theatre.
Robin finally returns to Club Creole, and is reunited with Julie and Elias. Julie takes Robin aside to explain what has happened to Elizabeth since the Second Invasion.
Kyle and Elizabeth return the horse to the local Equestrian Centre, and then head uphill to get Kyle's bike. While they are talking, Kyle manages to figure out Elizabeth's identity. Kyle tells Elizabeth that he does not care who she is or what she can do, he is only glad that she is with him. They share a tender kiss.
Donovan finally makes his way to the road in pursuit of Sean. He once again manages to elude Klaus, hitching a ride on the back of a passing truck. Sean, meanwhile, has voluntarily returned to the Visitor Embassy, and Diana is confident that Mike will follow. She is correct - when Mike arrives, he finds Klaus alone with Sean. While Ham throws a tear gas bomb at the Embassy gate, Mike engages in another battle with Klaus, this time using a broom handle for defense. As Klaus thrusts the whip towards Mike, Donovan opens a nearby fuse box, electrocuting him. Sean picks up Mike's gun but is unable to shoot his father, and runs out to the hallway. There he is confronted by Diana, and finds both Diana and Mike calling for him to join them. Sean chooses Diana, but Mike vows to get Sean back.
Kyle and Elizabeth make it back to Club Creole, where Julie berates Kyle for his thoughtlessness in taking her for a ride. Elizabeth charms Juliet out of her anger, and is finally reunited with her mother.
At Science Frontiers, Kyle is brought to see Nathan by Mr. Chiang. Nathan asks Kyle about "the girl from the cinema" and Kyle refuses to elaborate. When Nathan threatens Kyle, the younger Bates stalks out of the office with: "You'll do what? Cut me out of your will? Go ahead. I've got no taste for blood money."
"Visitor's Choice"
November 23, 1984
Review:
The Resistance plants an explosive in the middle of the road, in order to ambush a Visitor sub commander. While Ham sets the explosive, Fisher, another Resistance fighter, blocks the road. When the bomb goes off, Ham grabs the Visitors documents while Mike pulls up in the getaway car. Ham and Mike get away, but Fisher is stopped by the police.
At Club Creole, Willie translates the document: a conference for all Regional Commanders of Food Processing is to be held 25 miles away, in Playa del Mar, to introduce the "encapsulator" - a device that will triple the processing speed of humans. All agree to raid the conference. Mike and Julie leave to meet with the Resistance in Playa del Mar, while Ham goes shopping for "party favours".
Diana confronts Nathan about the Resistance bombing, but Nathan refuses to do anything because the Visitor was armed. He does, however, promise to find and crush the Resistance. When Diana leaves, Nathan sends for Mr. Chiang and puts forth following directives: a 9:00 PM curfew, and possession of a firearm punishable by death. He also orders Mr. Chiang to find Kyle.
Robin, Elizabeth, and Kyle go out for fast food, and are sitting in Kyle's truck when Mr. Chiang arrives. Kyle refuses to go with him, and manages to lose Mr. Chiang in a high speed chase.
Having had the police turn the Freedom fighter, Fisher, over to him, Nathan hands his interrogation over to Mr. Chiang. Fisher denies any knowledge of the Resistance, insisting that his car had just stalled at the time of the bombing.
Kyle brings Elizabeth and Robin to a friends house where they spend the night. Robin flirts a little with Kyle but he remains oblivious, having eyes only for Elizabeth. The next morning, Kyle leaves to make sure everything is safe, and tells Elizabeth to stay at the house with Robin. Before leaving he instructs her to be careful and kisses her softly on the forehead.
In Playa del Mar, Juliet and Mike make their way to the Resistance Headquarters at the Pipeline Skate Shot. Though Sandy Boddiker is not there, her brother lets them in, then jumps Mike and holds them at gunpoint. The brothers, Barry and Dean, reveal that Sandy is dead, are about to kill Mike and Julie as spies - until their code names are given on Radio Free America, identifying them as members of the Resistance.
Kyle makes his way to Club Creole, and informs Elias that he was on the run from his father. Ham invites Kyle to go with him on a raid at one of Nathan's munitions warehouses.
The next day in Playa del Mar, Mike et al plan their attack. While scoping out the conference, Julie identifies several important Visitors, including General Maxwell Larson, the "Butcher of Birmingham"; and Mary Kruger, the "Dark Angel of Dallas". They also see many humans, including Sandy - but Barry refuses to believe that she is there. Inside the conference, Mary demonstrates the prototype Encapsulator.
Ham and Kyle break into Nathan's warehouse - Kyle takes the bottom floor, while Ham takes the main floor. Kyle, carried away by the excitement, decides to take extra supplies and is surprised by a security guard. Kyle buys time by telling the guard that he is Nathan's son, and manages to overpower him and warn Ham to get out. While trying to escape Kyle slips and falls, and is captured.
At Science Frontiers, Nathan reads Mr. Chiang's report on Fisher's interrogation. He is informed that the Freedom Fighter gave them a lot of information about the Resistance, but died during interrogation before he could reveal the name of the mole at Science Frontiers. When Nathan is informed of Kyle's capture, he smashes Kyle's photo - and then decides to turn his son over to Mr. Chiang.
Ham arrives in Playa del Mar with the explosives as Julie is comforting Dean, who blames himself for his sister's death. They finish planning the attack on the conference.
Elias is surprised by a knock on his door after curfew. He lets in Robin and Elizabeth who are concerned because Kyle did not return. Elias explains about the raid on the munitions warehouse, and tries to reassure Robin that Kyle is OK. Elizabeth, however, can sense Kyle and knows that he is in danger.
Kyle, meanwhile, is being held captive at the warehouse. Nathan questions him, demanding to know the names of all Resistance members, their headquarters, etc. Kyle replies: "I wouldn't give you my name". Nathan then refuses to deal with his son anymore, and turns the interrogation over to Mr. Chiang.
Back in Playa del Mar, Juliet and the others begin their attack. After Ham takes out a guard with a crossbow, Dean puts on the Visitor uniform and takes the guards place. Ham, Mike, Julie, and Barry then enter the house, placing explosives strategically on each level. In the kitchen, Julie discovers a huge walk-in freezer containing humans waiting to be "processed". When the cook returns unexpectedly, Julie is forced to hide in one of the freezers and the door locks behind her.
At the munitions warehouse, Mr. Chiang begins his interrogation of Kyle. While maintaining a cool demeanor, Mr. Chiang uses his knowledge of martial arts to beat Kyle, saying: "Your father has requested that I speak to you - he is very concerned about your well being". Kyle is beaten and bloodied, but continues to fight. Elizabeth manages to make her way to the warehouse and uses her powers to explode the light bulbs and window in the room. While Mr. Chiang is distracted, Kyle jumps him and escapes out the window.
At the conference, the Resistance fighters meet and find that Juliet is missing. They go back through the house to search for her. In the kitchen, the cook has discovered Julie's hiding place and a fight ensues. As he is about to go after her with a cleaver, Mike reaches the room and knocks out the Visitor. Julie and Mike rescue the humans from the freezers - one of them is Sandy, who has an emotional reunion with her brothers. The Boddikers and the rescued humans leave in the van, while Mike, Ham, and Julie steal a skyfighter to make their escape, despite being chased by Diana. The Boddikers watch as the house explodes, destroying the Encapsulator and all inside.

Review:
The citizens of Rawlinsville are being forced to work in a local cobalt mine by Garrison and his biker cohorts. Trapped in their neighbourhood behind chain link fence and barbed wire, Garrison forces them to work for Diana - cobalt is required for Visitor laser weapons. When one of the citizens protests that another cannot work, he is allowed to go free - and shot in the back as he runs through the open gates. A woman, Glenna, uses this as a diversion to steal one of the motorcycles and escape from the town.
Aboard the Mothership, a priest and follower of Zon activates a signaling device to speak to Amon, the high priest of Zon. Kenneth, the Visitor, confesses a killing to Amon, who offers compassion and promises that the time will soon come for his arrival to deliver the Visitors. Kenneth is soon attacked by a group of Visitor guards. On the bridge, Lydia expresses her concern over the lack of cobalt for Visitor ground forces and blames Diana. Diana is unconcerned and orders that Kenneth be brought to her quarters.
Glenna goes to Club Creole for help in locating the Resistance. After proving that she is not a Visitor, Elias brings her to Mike and Ham, who keep their faces in shadow while they question her. By a vote of 2-1 (Ham is the dissenting vote) they decide to aid the town.
Juliet is able to send Mike a coded message from Science Frontiers to inform him of Nathan's next munitions shipment. Nathan confronts Julie about a traitor at Science Frontiers - but says he would never accuse her ... without proof.
On a downtown street in Los Angeles, the Resistance is able to use Julie's information to raid another munitions truck to get explosives with which to blow the cobalt mine. Willie, dressed as a woman, shoves a baby carriage in front of the oncoming truck. While he wails about his "baby", Mike and Ham arrive in a stolen police car and the three men steal the munitions truck. When Nathan gets the report, he authorizes Mr. Chiang to obtain proof that Julie is the traitor.
Garrison meets with Diana on the MotherShip and demands increased payment for the cobalt he will deliver. As a warning to Garrison about reneging on a deal, she has him witness the death of the Zon priest, Kenneth - eaten by a crivit.
At Juliet's apartment, Robin begins complaining to Julie about her life - and Julie lets all her frustrations out on Robin, especially about Robin's constant complaints and self-indulgence. Robin runs out, and Julie hides the latest computer disk that she has taken from Bates' office. When Robin returns later to apologize to Julie, she discovers Mr. Chiang searching Julie's apartment, and is able to warn Julie, who discovers that the disk is missing.
Ham, Elias, Mike, and Kyle plan the attack on Rawlinsville with Glenna. Elizabeth demands to go along but is overruled by Kyle in his zealousness to protect her. Kyle, however, is overruled himself by Mike. Elias, meanwhile, sets up a date with Glenna for after the raid.
The Resistance members head into Rawlinsville by raft. When Kyle and Elizabeth are briefly separated from the others, Elizabeth confesses her love for Kyle and tries to explain to him why she felt that she had to go along. Kyle has a deeper understanding of Elizabeth.
Aboard the Mothership, Diana has a flirtatious dinner with Ensign Daniel, who is investigating the source of the Amon transmission.
At Science Frontiers, Mr. Chiang inserts the computer disk that he stole from Juliet's apartment and confirms that it contains information on the munitions shipments. While he is doing so, a cleaning woman enters the room and begins cleaning the desk until he orders her to leave. When Julie is brought into the office to be accused of treason, the disk is revealed to hold only Julie's tax return. Juliet slaps Nathan and leaves ... while down the hall Robin slips out of her cleaning woman disguise and sneaks out.
The Resistance members have holed up in an empty storefront. Mike mentions that a diversion will be needed to overpower the guard, so Elizabeth heads outside despite Kyle's belated attempt to stop her. Elizabeth tempts the guard from his post where he is knocked unconscious by Mike and Ham. Glenna then frees some of her friends from the jail. Once the other guards have been taken care of, the freedom fighters confront Garrison at the mine entrance. Glenna cuts off Garrison's escape - and kills him when he goes for his gun. Elias is shocked when Glenna forces the Resistance members to throw down their weapons - she has been planning to take over the mine herself!
Glenna contacts Diana and makes plans to deliver the cobalt and the Resistance members that afternoon in a non contaminated area. Diana instructs Ensign Daniel to send a hyper light cable message to the Leader informing him that the L.A. Resistance has been crushed and that the Visitors have Elizabeth.
The Resistance members are locked in the Rawlinsville jail, where Elias is despondent about Glenna. Ham, however, has planned for all eventualities - he has hidden some explosives in his boots, and blows the door to the cell. The freedom fighters are spotted as the make their escape, and a firelight ensues in the town square between them and Glenna's people. When Elias sees Glenna running towards a garage, he follows her and is forced to shoot her when she attempts to ride out with a Visitor laser rifle.
With the Resistance now out of ammunition, the bikers come out from behind their barricades just as Elias fires the laser rifle into the street. They retaliate and he is shot in the side - the Resistance members use this to jump out and attack the bikers. While most are knocked out, one gets the bead on Kyle with a rifle - and Elizabeth uses her powers to open a car door behind the biker, knocking him out. Ham, who is leaning against the car, stares at the door incredulously. Elias manages to stop the cobalt truck before collapsing.
While waiting at the rendezvous point, Diana is informed that the mine has been destroyed. Before leaving, she pulls out a laser pistol and kills Ensign Daniel, because "someone has to pay for misinforming the Leader."
In Rawlinsville, Elias is patched up by the local doctor while the townspeople tear down the fences and barbed wire that has surrounded their homes.

Review:
On a highway leading out of L.A., Ham and Kyle await a munitions truck. Unbeknownst to them, Diana is planning a test of a new force field to surround Los Angeles. While Ham and Kyle watch, the munitions truck is vaporized. The field collapses, however, when the Visitor computer overloads - a relay is required within the city. Diana orders Lydia to have Jacob brought to her quarters, while she goes to meet with Nathan.
Kyle checks in at his house, where Elizabeth and Robin are staying. He arrives just as Robin awakens from a nightmare about her pregnancy and Brian's death. Kyle holds Robin in his arms and comforts her.
At Science Frontiers, Diana asks Nathan to set up the computer relay on the premises. She promises Nathan a safe corridor out of the force field, which he will set up using a personal 4-letter code. Nathan agrees and the relay is set up in a sub basement by Diana's chief systems technician, Galen.
Outside the Visitor Legation, Mike, Ham, and Willie kidnap the Visitor's chief military attaché. Using the 'good cop, bad cop' routine, they convince him to reveal the name of the force field's creator - Jacob. Willie explains that Jacob is a pacifist, and the Resistance make plans to board the Mothership to get him. Diana, meanwhile, has questioned Jacob and threatens him with the conversion process unless he refines the force field.
Kyle finds Elizabeth in the garden of his house. After she impulsively kisses him, he asks her out on a date. When Kyle leaves, Robin confesses to Elizabeth that she is in love with Kyle. Elizabeth manages to conceal her shock and surprise.
At Science Frontiers, Juliet finds the relay room but is stopped from entering by Galen and Nathan. Julie protests and Nathan silences her with veiled threats. Julie reports in to Club Creole just as Ham and Mike are preparing to leave for the Mothership. They arrange for Kyle to meet them outside of L.A., while Julie will make another attempt to get into the relay room.
While Kyle loads up the truck at his house, he is interrupted by Robin, who wants to go with him. He tells her that she cannot go, and before he leaves, Robin kisses Kyle, who does not respond. While unloading the truck at the rendezvous point, Kyle finds Elizabeth hiding in the back. She has risked his anger to tell him about Robin's feelings for him. Kyle explains to Elizabeth that he does not reciprocate, and alleviates the guilt that she is feeling. They share a kiss.
Ham and Mike, meanwhile, sneak into the Visitor Legation atop a truck. They overpower two guards, steal their uniforms, and board a transport vehicle to the Mothership. Ham and Mike burst into the room where Jacob is undergoing the conversion process - Diana is trying to force him to arm the master computer. The freedom fighters shoot up the control room, free Jacob, and head towards the flight deck, also discovering that Jacob is blind. When the flight deck door is discovered to be sealed, Jacob uses his soboriun bracelet to short open the system. The group steal a fighter and leave the ship.
In the aftermath of the Resistance attack, Lydia tracks the stolen fighter and Diana sends two additional fighters after them. Lydia then confronts Diana about Diana's incompetence and threatens to report Diana to the Leader. In the skies outside L.A., Ham manages to shoot down one of the pursuing Visitors, while Mike forces the other one into the force field. However, they are damaged in the battle and have to crash land miles from their planned rendezvous point.
At Science Frontiers, Juliet accesses the computer in Nathan's office and activates the security camera for the relay room in an attempt to see Nathan entering his code. Julie is able to see the location of the safe corridor, but not the code. As she watches, Mr. Chiang forces someone through the access tunnel at gunpoint as a test of the system.
In the desert, Lydia gets a fix on the downed Resistance fighter and sends out Visitor combat troops on bikes and in jeeps. Mike contacts Julie, who sends the group to the I5, the location of Nathan's safe corridor. She then heads back to Science Frontiers in an attempt to crack Nathan's code, refusing Willie's offer of bodyguard.
As Mike, Ham, and Jacob make their way through a canyon, Mike tries to explain to Jacob why they need his help, as Jacob is only concerned that his discoveries are being used for destruction. The group is suddenly pinned down by Visitor soldiers - until Kyle arrives in his truck, plowing through the Visitors who are then taken out by Ham and Mike. Kyle reveals that Elizabeth led him to the correct canyon - he wouldn't have found them without her. Jacob recognizes Elizabeth and asks her to guide him.
At Science Frontiers, Julie sets off an alarm in another sector in order to get the guard on the relay room to leave his post. She begins trying various 4-letter combinations with no success. As she is about to contact Mike, Galen walks in and confronts her. Juliet attempts to reach her gun, but it is knocked from her hand. Just then Willie walks in - while Galen is distracted Julie pulls the gun from his holster and kills him.
The pursuing Visitors force Kyle off the road. They manage to kill or lose most of them, but the truck is damaged and the group is forced to flee on foot. They reach the corridor entrance. In desperation Juliet tells them that she cannot break the code - Mike asks Kyle for suggestions, and when Julie hears Kyle's name she realizes that 'KYLE' must be the code. She enters the name and the safe corridor opens.
Mike sends Elizabeth and Jacob through the corridor, while he, Ham, and Kyle take care of the remaining Visitor troops. Jacob stops with Elizabeth just above the corridor entrance - he explains that he must destroy the force field to prevent it from being used for destruction. Jacob tells Elizabeth that one day Amon, the high priest of Zon, will find her ... he then focuses his soboriun bracelet on the force field and causes its collapse and his own death. The force field is destroyed along with the computer on the Mothership and the relay station.
On the Mothership, an Ensign reports that Lydia's shuttle is missing, heading back to report to the Leader. Diana orders the shuttle destroyed, and the explosion as her orders are complied with fills the screen.

Review:
Kyle and Elizabeth leave Club Creole to check out Kyle's new house. On the way, Kyle buys Elizabeth a Christmas corsage from a old lady. The woman deliberately pricks Elizabeth's finger with the corsage.
Ham and Mike, meanwhile, manage to evade Visitor patrols while smuggling orphan children into L.A. Mr. Chiang informs Nathan that Mike and Ham were positively identified. Nathan demands that Mr. Chiang crush the Resistance.
At the Visitor Legation, the old lady hands over the corsage to Diana. The pin has been coated with a dioxin veneer, which will enable Diana to clone a new Starchild to her own genetic specifications. Diana plans to use the clone to develop a red-dust antitoxin. The old lady is taken away to be killed.
The orphaned children are taken to a church that is being used as a halfway house. There they meet up with Ham's old friend Chris Faber - Chris had been working with a desert unit that was recently wiped out by the Visitors. He reveals that he is now working with Father Turney to place war orphans in foster homes in Los Angeles.
One of the orphan children, Jennifer, confronts Ham about his morose attitude. When the Resistance fighters see a Visitor patrol outside destroying a manger scene, they attack the Visitors. Despite the increased Visitor presence, Father Turney refuses to leave, and Mike and Ham make plans to return the next day to pick up the orphans.
Kyle and Elizabeth decide to relax by the water at their new house. Robin also comes outside and witnesses the couple sharing a private moment. Robin confronts them and storms into the house, crying.
At Club Creole, Willie gets into the Christmas spirit by singing his own version of "Deck The Halls". He is roughly pushed from the piano by a Visitor, who begins playing the Visitor National Anthem. Juliet hears the commotion and attends to Willie - then begins singing "America The Beautiful". By the second verse the entire club has stood and joined in, and drowned out the Visitor, who gives up. No one notices a man in the corner taking photos using a small surveillance camera.
Diana's clone is developed at the Legation, despite warnings from Dennis, a Visitor scientist, who warns that Diana has interfered too much with the hybrid's genetic structure. Julie, meanwhile, has discovered the pinprick on Elizabeth's finger and takes a culture of it for testing at Science Frontiers.
When a guard hears glass breaking inside the lab at the Legation, he goes to investigate and is found dead, with his human face ripped away. The incubator and lab are destroyed. Diana sends the Visitor's best tracker, Laird, to find and return the clone.
When Ham, Mike and Chris return to Father Turney's church, they find a car burning outside and the church ransacked. Ham sees a Visitor and loses control, breaking the Visitor's neck. Chris has to confine him from shooting the already dead Visitor. Jennifer leads the Resistance members to the church basement, where Father Turney and the orphans have been hiding. All decide to head back to L.A.
Elizabeth and Robin have a long talk in a park, where they resolve their feelings about Kyle. Robin comes to realize that Elizabeth and Kyle are in love, so Robin considers leaving L.A. As they are leaving the park, Elizabeth senses that they are being watched. After they leave, a police officer is attacked and killed by the clone. The clone, who was still at an early stage of development, metamorphs in a drainage tunnel into the Elizabeth that we know.
Laird manages to track the clone to the drainage tunnel, and realizes that she has morphed. He follows her footprints using a sophisticated infra tracking device. The clone heads into town and sees herself in a mirror - she shatters the mirror using only a touch. When confronted by the store manager, she hisses and shows her lizard-like tongue. Her destruction is captured on video cameras, and an All-Points-Bulletin is aired on the L.A. news. Julie, meanwhile, has discovered the dioxin in Elizabeth's blood and realizes what Diana has done. While Robin looks for Elizabeth, who is shopping for Christmas presents, Juliet heads back to Science Frontiers to confront Nathan.
At Science Frontiers, the surveillance expert confirms what Mr. Chiang has long suspected - Julie is a member of the Resistance. When Nathan is shown the pictures taken at Club Creole, he takes steps to set Julie up as a traitor.
The Resistance members deliver the orphaned children to Club Creole. When Mike expresses concern over Ham's behaviour, Chris explains: In Vietnam, before the fall of Saigon, Ham was married to a Eurasian woman and had a daughter. He and Chris were sent to Nicaragua, and the government promised to airlift Ham's family to safety. Ham left his family in a church on the outskirts of Saigon. When an airstrike was sent in to halt a Viet Cong advance, one of the pilots dropped his bomb early, and destroyed the church. Ham returned many times to search the burned out building and surrounding area but never found his family.
At the Legation, Laird is threatened with death if he does not deliver the clone by nightfall. When Kyle arrives at this house, he finds it empty ... and does not sense the clone watching him from the nearby woods.
Mike attempts to commiserate with Ham, but if rebuffed. He and Chris notice a large preponderance of service vans in the area, and begin to suspect a trap.
At Science Frontiers, Juliet goes to speak to Nathan. He cuts her off, however, to say that he is glad that she is not at Club Creole, because he "would not want to find her body in the wreckage". Julie tries to hide her fear until she can get to her office to warn Elias. However, when she calls the club from her office, it is Nathan who answers - Mr. Chiang has put a relay on her phone. Despite this and the fact that her office is monitored by security camera, Juliet manages to spray perfume into the face of a security guard and escape the building.
A group of Nathan's goons head into Club Creole. After checking that the place seems empty, the leader of the group pulls out his gun and starts shooting. The Resistance are ready for them ,though, and jump out of their hiding places to return fire. After a short firefight, the Resistance members head to the hidden room and set off the explosives they have wired in the building. Juliet, having just arrived outside, sees the explosion and recoils in terror, believing that all inside have perished. When Mike grabs her a moment later, she sobs with relief to find that everyone is OK.
At Kyle's house, the clone watches him as he takes a shower. Thinking it is Elizabeth, he calls out to her to wait for him. The real Elizabeth, meanwhile, returns from her shopping and tries to calm the clone, whom she had sensed in the park. Kyle grabs a statue to use as a weapon but Elizabeth senses that the clone will not hurt her. When Laird arrives, the clone throws herself in front of Elizabeth and takes a laser blast meant for the Starchild. The gun clatters to the floor as the clone falls. Laird advances on Elizabeth, and is shot by Kyle, who has grabbed the pistol. Elizabeth holds the clone as she dies in her arms.
The Resistance members hold a Christmas party at Club Creole's hidden room - Chris managed to rig the explosives so that the rooms below would remain intact. Juliet and Willie help Elizabeth to understand the clone's death, when Ham arrives dressed as Santa Claus.
"The Conversion"
January 04, 1985
Review:
Kyle, Ham, and another Resistance fighter raid a Visitor convoy without backup: Ham has heard about a new converter that the Resistance must destroy. Ham destroys a truck with a missile launcher, and they attack the truck only to be surrounded by Visitor troops - it was a trap! The third freedom fighter is killed, and Ham and Kyle are taken prisoner.
Juliet and Mike ask Willie to try to find out what is happening - the Resistance has tapped into messages from the Visitor Legation. Elizabeth offers to give herself to the Visitors in exchange for Ham and Kyle, but this plan is vetoed by Robin and Julie.
Kyle and Ham are brought to the L.A. Mothership. Diana threatens to kill them both, but is interrupted by an announcement that Charles' ship is arriving. The women on the ship are thrilled to hear of his arrival. Diana meets Charles and is shocked to discover that Lydia accompanies him - Diana covers her actions by telling Lydia that the attack on her shuttle was a Fifth Column plot. Lydia assures Diana that she suspected such an attack, sent a drone in her place, and left for the home world on a different shuttle.
Charles informs Diana that the Leader is unhappy with the lack of progress in the war, and that Charles will stay on Earth until the war has ended. Charles assumes command, with Lydia as his adjutant, and Diana is given her old post as Chief of Security. Charles assigns Lydia the task of installing a new conversion microchip at the Legation. Diana, knowing that transmission to and from the Legation are monitored, sends a message to the Legation announcing Lydia's arrival.
Willie intercepts the message; Mike, Elias and Julie commandeer Lydia's limo and take her hostage, where she unwittingly reveals that Ham is being taken to the Legation.
Charles uses his new microchip to convert Ham - using images of Ham's wife and daughter, he implants a dream in which Mike Donovan is working the controls at a Visitor "processing plant". In one dream, Ham sees Mike kissing his wife and daughter. In another, Mike works the controls while Ham's wife and daughter go by on the conveyer belt. During the process, Charles plants the key words in Ham's subconscious: "There's my son now". When Ham hears the sound made by Charles' ring and hears the keywords, he will be conditioned to kill Mike Donovan. Charles plans to place Ham back into the Resistance.
Charles and Diana meet with Nathan and Mr. Chiang. Charles suggests a prisoner exchange to be arranged by Nathan. When Nathan protests, Diana informs him that they have captured Kyle, and wish to trade him for Lydia. Nathan wants proof, and insists that no harm must come to Kyle.
The Resistance attempt to plan a rescue attempt. When they hear that Ham has been taken to Science Frontiers, they head to the centre.
On board the Mothership, Diana attempts to seduce Kyle and is rebuffed. She neglects to place back into his gravity chair when she leaves the room, and Kyle manages to overpower the guard and escape.
Nathan gets his proof at Science Frontiers - he reads the keywords and watches astonished as Ham shoots out a picture of Mike. Nathan agrees to set up the hostage exchange.
Outside, the Visitors have put their rescue plan into operation. Willie, dressed as a mouse, sets up a roadside stand offering "Free rodents. All you can eat." When the guards taking Ham back to the Legation stop for a snack, Willie pulls out a gun and Mike attacks and knocks out the guards. They are then able to liberate Ham from the van.
Diana orders the Mothership searched "quietly" when she is told that Kyle has escaped. Kyle manages to jump a guard and steals his uniform. Diana informs Charles that Ham has been taken by the Resistance, but fails to mention Kyle's escape - she tries to sway Charles' opinion of Lydia, telling him that she may have broken to the Resistance.
When Ham is brought back to Resistance headquarters, Elizabeth senses that something is wrong with him. The other freedom fighters put his condition down to his ordeal. A Resistance member brings them a flyer being distributed throughout the city which tells of a live television broadcast for that evening.
Kyle, hiding from a Visitor patrol, takes refuge in a Visitor gym. Two Visitors in their natural form are sunning under heat lamps. Kyle has just taken a mouse from a serving bowl when Diana arrives to recapture him. He is taken to the bridge, where Charles initiates the idea of the live prisoner exchange during the broadcast. Kyle is given the chance to talk, and pledges his love to Elizabeth.
The Resistance realize that the Visitors will be setting a trap, and plan the exchange to be held at an abandoned sports arena. Mike organizes his own camera crew so that the world will be able to see what actually transpires there, not just what the Visitors want to be seen.
Ham has flashbacks to his conversion but thinks that he can deal with it. Chris tries to help him, but Ham refuses to reveal what he remembers. Ham will only admit to Chris that he is "killing mad" and that the Visitors messed up his mind.
The Resistance arrive at the arena early to set up their back up plan. Explosives are set in the bleachers to be used for a diversion if necessary, and to cover their escape route through an underground tunnel system. Ham continues having flashbacks but tries to shake it off. When the Visitors, Nathan, and Mr. Chiang arrive, Nathan takes Kyle aside and attempts to warn him of upcoming danger. Nathan attempts to reconcile with Kyle.
With the cameras rolling, Nathan announces the beginning of the prisoner exchange. Charles sets his ring, and Ham pulls his gun. Nathan uses the keywords: "There's my son now" ... but Elizabeth senses what is happening, and uses her powers to knock a light stand into Ham. Ham fires at Mike, but the bullet goes awry and hits Nathan instead. As pandemonium ensues, Kyle runs to Nathan while the Visitors and Resistance members open fire on each other. Kyle is dragged from Nathan's body while Juliet checks him for a pulse. Mike covers Julie's escape, as the rest of the Resistance set off the explosives and retreat through the tunnels. Lydia escapes into Charles' limo, and Charles, Lydia, and Diana head back to the Legation.
