60. (John) Adam Brossman was baptized in 1775 in St. Daniel's Church, Robesonia, PA. He was born on 27 August 1775 in Heidelberg Township, Berks Co., PA.14 He died on 2 February 1845 at the age of 69 in Heidelberg Township, Berks Co., PA.14 (John) was buried in St. Daniel's Church Cemetery, Robesonia, PA. Notes: Historical & Biographical Annals of Berks County, vol 1 P. 1660 "...John Adam Brossman, son of Francis died upon his farm in Lower Heidelberg township at the age of sixty-seven years, and is buried at St. Daniel's (Corner) Church, of which he was an official member. He was a Lutheran in religious faith. His occupation was farming, and he owned a large tract of land. The old Brossman homestead is now embraced in Lower Heidelberg township, and while the original tract has been divided, it is still in the possession of members of the family. (written in 1909). The part on which the first buildings were erected is now owned by Henry Brossman. In the beginning there were 150 acres in the home farm. John Adam Brossman married Catharine Leiss, and their children were: (1) John L. born in 1804 on the homestead, died there in 1887, after a life devoted to farming and milling. He married Catharine Hettinger whose father was a native of Germany and a farmer of Lower Heidelberg township. They had ten children: John, Nathan, Reuben, Henry, Mary, Catharine, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Ellen, and one that died in infancy. (2) Adam L. (3) Daniel. *(4) Eve married Henry Werner, of Lower Heidelberg. (5) Benjamin. 1994 notes: citing & description of John Adam Brossman is incorrectly assigned to his father Johannes. There is a generation skipped in Berks County Annals. above notes, therefore, belong with John Adam, son of Johannes. End of notes. (John) Adam Brossman and (Eva) Catharine Leiss were married about 1800. (Eva) Catharine Leiss, daughter of Heinrich Leiss and Anna Maria Barbara Meyer/Meier, was born on 14 February 1777 in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., PA.14 She died on 24 January 1824 at the age of 46 in Robesonia, Berks Co., PA.14 She was buried in St. Daniel's Church Cemetery, Robesonia, PA. (John) Adam Brossman-200 and (Eva) Catharine Leiss-209 had the following children: (John) Adam Brossman and Dorthy (Bickel) Bockle were married. There were no children from this marriage. Dorthy (Bickel) Bockle, daughter of Ulrich Bockle and Eva Margaretha Leinmyer, was born on 11 April 1787. She died on 6 December 1874 at the age of 87.15 She was buried in St. John's (Hain's) Church Cemetery, Wernersville, PA. |
