project overview

I had been looking for ESB machine graphics for an extremely long time for a Star Wars cabinet I wanted to convert. Thought it would be great to have a game I have only seen twice in my life: once in Seattle in 1988 and another time at the Star Wars Celebration in May 1999.

But I got REAL tired of highly expensive eBay auctions.

So, as a service to the gaming restoration community, I decided to offer high-quality reproduction graphics for a very reasonable price.

I set out to get as close to the real thing as it can get. I planned creating SLIGHT deviations in part number graphics so as not to devalue NOS parts. Don't get me wrong: NOS parts are great, but if you're like me and just want to get a great looking cabinet in your basement, you want to find the easiest (and most affordable) way to do it!

Check out the flyer JPEG in the artwork section and you'll see what a Star Wars machine with ESB graphics should look like. The original graphics upgrade included:

  • ESB marquee overlay
  • Controller decal
  • Two (2) side logo decals

...as well as a circuit board with the ESB game on it. Clay Cowgill had that covered which you can see at www.multigame.com, but I had never seen any ESB repro graphics for gamers who were serious about restoring their machines or converting an extra Star Wars they might have.

After doing the initial research and deciding that there was enough interest to get started, the project demanded $100 per kit for everything you need graphicly to turn an existing Star Wars cabinet into a fantastic looking Empire game.

Let me state this for the record: at $130 per kit, I made and am still making NO money on this...just covering my expenses. This is a strictly non-profit venture. I want these out there so people can use them and not break their bank getting what they need for their game. I pitched in the extra dough for extra kit pieces for others who weren't willing to pitch out $130 sight-unseen. I am extremely grateful for those who did; this project would never have left the ground (I'm not that much of a gambler...large projects, sabacc games, or otherwise!).

Check out the 'update archive section' for the updates I made while the project was forging ahead for more info.
