Links

Okay, so here we are. We've got a few links to go to now. Mostly stuff that I look at on a daily basis.

Video Games

Blue's News - A good source for video game news. Mostly first-person shooters like Quake, Unreal, Half-Life, etc.

Polycount - A great source for skins and models for a handful of first-person shooters, even a couple for The Sims. I go there daily looking for new sexy-chick models/skins to use as bots in Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, and Elite Force.

The Sims: Official Site - The Sims is a really fun game. It's basically a computerized doll house, although I have to confess that I've used it to fulfill my fantasy of being married to Rogue. My little Sims family is doing rather well, largely without cheating.

PlanetQuake - A good place to go for all things Quake. There are a lot of different planet*.com sites now, so I'll just put the rest of the ones I like to visit right here.
Planet Half-Life
Planet Unreal
Planet Diablo
And there are more, for just about any type of game out there. They'll have a whole list of stuff down the left side.

VoyagerEliteForce.com - A decent site for things related to Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force. There are some pretty good skins and such available from there. Not part of the whole planet*.com cabal, but parts of its navigation scheme are pretty similar.

DOAXcess - Fansite for Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Lots of screenshots, a bit of info about the game, and message boards (which I actually have yet to take part in).

Diablo II.net - Yet another unofficial site, lots of info about Diablo 2 and its expansion, Lord of Destruction. Lately they've been reporting on what sort of changes will be made with the next version of D2X, which has been in the works for a few months now. Maybe they'll release the update before I make changes to this links page.

Web Comics

Ctrl+Alt+Del - Yet another generic video game comic. Covers all sorts of topics, including obsessive Counterstrike players, stupid people who are out of touch with reality, and perhaps one of the rarest creatures known to man, a female gamer who is both decent looking and good at the games she plays.

Dilbert - The essential geeks-in-the-workplace comic strip. Scott Adams is the man.

Fox Trot - Another strip that you can usually find in your daily newspaper. Jason is my kind of kid, although I don't get into the fantasy genre quite as much as he does.

Garfield - Garfield is only two years younger than me, and it's one of the comics I grew up with. I remember as a child that I developed a liking for lasagna because that was Garfield's favorite food.

General Protection Fault - This one used to be a lot funnier, but for the past several months it's been a storyline called "Surreptitious Machinations", with bids for world domination and freedom-fighters from the future. I came for the humor, but I've stayed for this story just because I want to see where it will end up.

GU Comics - Single panel comics about EverQuest and other online RPG's I haven't played any of those games in a long time, but I still find this funny.

InkTank.com - Home of Angst Technology and Weak-End Warriors. About a software development company and a paintball field, respectively. I've never done any paintball, because I'm a huge wimp when it comes to inviting pain, but I still like this strip.

Mac Hall - Pretty silly stuff. Another example of a group of people who share a living space. This one has a big anime influence in its style, as well as in some of its jokes.

Non Sequitur - Another strip that is in the newspapers, this one is often political in nature.

Penny Arcade - A generic gaming comic. This one is pretty funny, but sometimes I don't agree with them. They often don't seem to like the XBox very much, which makes no sense to me. Other than its bulk, it's a great system.

Real Life - Real people made into a web comic. Not always updated every day, but it's pretty good. They recently had a pretty funny story arc about a skiing trip in which they found a Monolith straight out of 2001 - A Space Odyssey.

RPG World - This one is a big spoof of Final Fantasy and other similar console roleplaying games. Hero is your typical main character, always looking for the side-quests that will yield uberweapons.

Sexy Losers - WARNING! This web comic is very, very twisted. It is not suitable for minors. Between the necrophilia, incest, and constant masturbation, it's something that most of my family would want to stay well away from.

Sinfest - This one is pretty funny. Lots of different things going on, kinda hard to really describe briefly.

The Suburban Jungle - This one is great. It's about anthropomorphic cats (big ones, tigers, lions, etc.) and there's some great stuff. Dover, a cheetah, is unable to speak in normal English; everything he says is in some form of programming code.

Polymer City Chronicles - Another comic that started out a lot funnier, then suddenly got really serious. It had its share of video game spoofs in it as well. They brought out the funny for a while, but now they're getting more serious again.

User Friendly - The Daily Static is where I actually go first every day, since that's right where the new comic is each day. The first daily web comic I ever heard of, let alone read. It's about a group of people who work at an ISP.

You Damn Kid - Portrait of the artist as a young boy. Basically the artist reminisces about his childhood, and often pokes fun at the Catholic church doing so. Previous strips included a ticklish Jesus Christ, erotic dreams about nuns, and Ernie Keebler dying for our sins. What's a little sacrilege between friends, right?

Rescue Rangers

The Internet Gadget Archive - A good place to go to find images of Gadget. Includes screen captures, fan art, and other such things.

Star Trek

StarTrek.com - The official Star Trek website. Lots of information about the show, including episode synopses and a library of Star Trek information.

Trekiverse - An archive of Star Trek fan fiction that has been posted to the alt.startrek.creative heirarchy of newsgroups. Some of it is a little disturbing, and there's a bunch of it that features homosexual relationships (I skip those stories myself; I have no desire to read about any men having sex with each other), so caution is advised. The stories have ratings that are analagous to the MPAA ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) so it's easier to stay away from ratings you'd rather not delve into. I'm expecting the Voyager story I wrote to go up there any time now, but it's been quite some time since I originally posted it. They might just be way behind though.

Voyager Virtual Season 7.5 - There's a group of people on alt.startrek.creative who felt unsatisfied with the way the last season of Voyager went, so they all got together and decided to start writing their own version of events. That's what fanfic is all about, really. Take the established characters that you like and play "what if?" games with them. It's been an enjoyable series of stories so far, but I have to disagree with what they did with Seven of Nine. Don't want to spoil anything for you if you haven't read any of it yet though.

Star Trek in Sound and Vision - A great place to go for Star Trek sound clips and screen captures. The Voyager viewscreen that surrounds my webcam page came from there.
