3D charts - samples and software links
The Generations software introduced a 3D charting feature with the v8 release. These charts are produced for viewing with your web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape) and require a free software plugin to view the VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) file.
They are designed to be used with the free Cosmoplayer VRML software, included with the various v8 software packages. The player may also be downloaded from the Cosmo player web site http://www.ca.com/cosmo/html/player.htm. Versions are available for the Macintosh, Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98, and Windows NT. The Windows NT version installs and runs properly under Windows 2000 but incorrectly reports a problem during the installation.
The Parallelgraphics Cortona VRML player may also be used and runs on some video chip sets not supported by the Cosmo player. However, differences in the way that fonts are supported between the two different players means that the text labels with the individual's name are not displayed. This player is available at http://www.parallelgraphics.com/products/cortona/
I have posted 3D charts created from two different sample Generations family files. Both files include pictures attached to some of the individuals.
