Extended character cut-and-paste workaround

Tip version: 21.2

Revision date: 13 May 2001

Sofware versions: 5.2-7, [fixed in v8 and above]

There are problems with extended characters when cutting and pasting from some programs into the notes fields in Generations v5.2-v7. This is resolved in the v8 software.

The workaround for this is to either save the document as a text file either from the original application or by pasting it into something like Notepad and saving from there. Once you have it in text format, use the "Import Text" button on the Notes screen. For "document" here take it as either the whole document or just a selection, depending on what is most appropriate.

Note: You need to be careful in positioning when you are importing a text file into an already existing note. The default position is to import the file at the beginning of the note. This may not be where you wish the imported text to appear. It may be simplest to cut-and-paste the text once it is imported.
