Page Setup Problem Workaround

The Easytree program in Generations will accept the various page sizes offered by your printer under the Page Setup item in the File menu. These will be used when a report is sent to the "Printer" or the "Print Preview" destinations.

However, when a report is sent to a Rich Text Format file (.rtf) or directly to a word processor, it appears that the program will always use the U.S. Letter page size (8.5x11 inches). There is a workaround for this bug, which may be used if one sends the report to a RTF file destination.

1. Save the report to an RTF file.
2. Open the file with a text editor (note, do NOT use a word processor, we do not want to interpret the RTF code here, rather to edit it).
3. Use the Find function to locate the RTF format commands for paper width "\paperw" and for paper height "\paperh". These will be "in-line," that is, not seperated by any spaces from other RTF format codes. The "\" is used for this purpose. Each command will be immediately followed by a number showing the appropriate paper dimension. The units are at 1440 per inch, from 72 picas per inch, and 1/20th of a pica per unit. The conversion is about 56.693 units per millimeter.
4. Substitute the appropriate values for the paper width and paper height. A couple of typical values are shown below.
5. Save the file. You may now open it from your word processor program.
