Workaround for v8 Relationship List Report crash

Tip version: 48.2

Modified date: 14 May 2001

Software version: Generations Grande Suite v8, Generations Beginner's Edition v8 (fixed in v8.5)

Just as the Generations Grande Suite v8 package began hitting store shelves, a significant bug in the Relationship List report feature was discovered. This bug had been identified and fixed earlier in the beta testing process but had accidentally been reintroduced into the CD-master version of the software.. This will also apply to the Beginner's Edition v8 package.

*** The Easytree program will crash if you calculate relationships and then produce a Relationship List report as the very next report. ***

This does not depend upon the size of your family file. The workaround is to produce another report, of any kind, before producing the Relationship List report. Once you have done that, you may produce relationship reports at any time. This procedure must be followed each time you recalculate relationships. The discovery that this bug had returned was immediately reported to Sierra.

The v8.5.1 patch fixes this problem in the Generations Grande Suite v8 and Generations Beginner's Edition v8 releases.
