Notes for Thor Olson (Haugen)
They moved from Rock Co., Wisconsin, to Brown Co., Minnesota, in 1856, so they were among the earliest settlers in the county. They fled their farm during the Sioux uprising in 1862 and their crops were destroyed, but the home was not damaged. The account provided by Michael Thorstad, including a transcription of an article presented by George S. Hage at the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thormodson on 24 October 1943 states that they arrived in 1857, the same year as Iver Nelson. They very likely came from Rock Prairie in Rock County, Wisconsin.

They were listed just after John Johanni in the 1865 Minnesota census return.

Notes for Betsy (Spouse 1)
There is a chance that she was the Berge Olson listed in the family of Toro Olson at the 1865 Minnesota census, even though she was listed after daughter Caroline. Check the 1860 and 1870 U.S. censuses and the Linden church records.
