The witnesses to his baptism were Vallentin [Valentine Schaleben], Ingeborg Halvorsen, Charley Cristiansen, and Anne Paulson. He was confirmed on 28 October 1900 at the Linden Lutheran Church. He was attending school in 1900. After he married they lived in Linden, Brown Co., Minnesota, until he retired and moved to Madelia, Watowan Co., Minnesota, in 1945.

The church record has the marriage date as 11 December 1906, not the 1904 of Thordson3 and the obituary below. The witnesses were John Olson and Christine Halvorson.

Alfred E. Halvorson of Madelia, formerly of Linden township, died Monday, December 14, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services were held today, Thursday at 2 o'clock at the Linden Lutheran Church with burial in the church Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Ostergaard officiated with Mrs. Loren Arndt as organist and Mrs. Darrell Pace as soloist.
Pallbearers were Gordon and Willard Evenson, Ellsworth and Arnold Laingen, Arlo Harbo and Donald Halvorson.
Alfred was born to the parents of Clement and Anna Halvorson of Linden, September 24, 1884. He married Emma Christine Olson in Linden, December 11, 1904. They farmed in Linden township until he retired and moved to Madelia in 1945. His wife died January 3, 1968 and Alfred entered the Luther Memorial Home in May 1969.
Besides his son Claire he leaves to mourn his death two brothers, Willard of Hanska and Edward of Thompson Falls, Montana; three sisters, Lucile, Mrs. Walter Daniels of Troy, Ohio; Lilly, Mrs. Verne Lewis of Lewisville; and Cora, Mrs. George Gronewold also of Lewisville. Three grandchildren, Gayle, Mrs. James Hoeft, Madelia; Gary Halverson, New Ulm and Robert Halvorson, Madelia; also a foster child, Ada, Mrs. Walter Roloff, Whittier, California and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were three sisters, Mrs. Sam (Ella) Harbo, Mrs. Henry (Verna) Schultz, Mrs. Theodore (Christina) Laingen and one brother Dr. John Halvorson.
Mr. Halvorson was an efficient farmer, a kind and considerate friend and loyal to his home town community and his church in Linden." Transcribed in Thordson3.

His niece, Ada Green, age 9, and his nephew, Alvin Olson, age 21, were living with them on their farm in 1920.

Alfred and Emma share a headstone in the Linden cemetery. It is inscribed as follows:
