Notes for Erik Knudson (Ladengen)
The godparents and witnesses at his christening were Anders and Kari Lyngved, Eldri and Bereth Ekle, Knud Brimi and Hans Botten. He was confirmed in Lom on 11 April 1869, son of Knud Pedersen and Thora Paulsdatter of Ladengen farm.

He was living with his parents on the Ladengen farm at the time of the 1865 Norwegian census. He was not named in his mother's probate, so he must have died by that time.

He arrived in Quebec on 26 June 1871, aboard the Montreal Ocean Steamship Line ship "S.S. Prussian," Capt. G. Dutton, master. It had sailed from Liverpool on 15 June 1871 with a stop at Derry, Ireland.

I have not yet located him in the emigration protokolls from Norway. I have scanned the Oslo records for May and early June 1871. This may mean that he went to England through another port. I saw very few emigrants from Lom through Oslo in this interval, which may mean that it was cheaper to sail through another port in 1871. I continued to scan for emigrants from Lom through the end of the volume on 24 August 1871.

He was living at 163 W. Huron in Chicago at the time of his death.

He is seen in the Chicago city directories 1873-1877. The last couple of years he is listed with his brother in Ole Knudson & Bro., coal business. Beginning in 1878 Ole and Andrew are associated in the marble business as Knudson Bros.
He was vaccinated against smallpox in 1855.
