Medical Notes for Knute Paulson Laingen
He died from measles, suffered for two weeks.
Misc. Notes
He was living on the family farm at the time of the 1865 Norwegian census. He left Lom, Norway, on 26 May 1870, with his parents and family. See the discussion for Paul Knudson Laingen for the details of their trip. He was staying with his uncle Peter at the time of the 1875 Minnesota census.

He applied for first citizenship papers in the Cottonwood County, Minnesota, court on 18 May 1887. He stated that he was born in Norway in 1860 and that he had arrived in Chicago, IL, in July 1870.

Knud and Marit obtained their wedding license on 14 May 1885 and they were married at Mountain Lake on 24 May 1885. Rev. A. L. Lokken performed the ceremony and Syver S. Grev and Torsten P. Laingen were the witnesses. He was one of the witnesses at his brother's wedding in Mountain Lake on 28 Jan 1886, so we have him fixed on that date. The fact that his first and last child were recorded as being born in Mountain Lake implies that he lived there throughout his marriage, but this needs confirmation. Check the Jackson County birth records also.

Knute and Marit (the latter as Mary Laingen) are shown as living with his parents at the time of the 1885 Minnesota state census, on 8 May 1885. This was shortly before they were marreid.

His probate case, and the children's guardianship case, was filed 15 Apr 1902 in Cottonwood Co., Minnesota. See files 493, register book B, p. 417, and 494, register book B, p. 418. [Probate Index, LDS FHL microfilm 1428607 #1]

Bruce Laingen informs me that Knute and Marit are buried in the St. Olaf Church Cemetery, near Odin, Minnesota. The record of Knute's death states that he was buried six miles south of Mountain Lake, which would be the location of the family farm. It is likely that he was later moved to the St. Olaf Church Cemetery to be in the family plot there.
