Professional genealogical research done in Salt Lake City

Over 25 years experience in American genealogy, 6+ years experience with Norwegian and Swiss records. Also experienced with Danish and Prussian records. Genealogical researcher located in Salt Lake City convenient to the LDS Family History Library offering services. Prompt personal attention to your research problems. Moderate hourly rates and photocopies/film printouts at cost. Details and references on request.

Research done for you at the LDS Family History Library can save you much time. The time delays and expenses involved in requesting copies of LDS microfilms and microfiche at your local (or NOT so local) Family History Center can be avoided. Avoid the problems when a relative moved just next door into another county so another whole set of microfilms have to be ordered, paid for, and waited for....

Moderator of the Generations Message board at the SierraHome web site, co-moderator of the Generations Discussion email list.

Author of the columns on the Generations software package in Everton's Genealogical Helper magazine (early 1999 to early 2001), the Generations columns in the "Hands On" section of Genealogical Computing magazine (1999 issues), and Heritage Quest magazines (mid 2000 onwards). Other genealogical publications.

My rates are $20/hour with a one hour minimum. Photocopies and microfilm printouts which are requested are charged at their cost in the library ($0.05/page photocopy, $0.23/page microfilm printout, subject to change) plus mailing costs.

If my initial research on a problem (up to the first hour) shows that there is little chance of answering the genealogical research problem with the resources at the LDS Family History Library, then there will be no charge. An example of this would be a research problem in a Swiss canton where no church records have been microfilmed. Sometimes there are canton-level records which can be used in the absence of church records (censuses, emigration records, military records, etc.)

I will scan any printouts if you wish and they may be inserted into reports on your research or emailed to you. The data may also be placed on a CD-R (Compact Disc - Recordable) if you wish.

I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and subscribe to their code of conduct. All research is done only by arrangement in advance - I will not do work which has not been authorized by the client beforehand, in order to prevent misunderstandings.
