Notes for Henry (Spouse 1)
Henry Wallbridge, a seventh son, was probably from either the County of Devon or else from near Wareham in Dorsetshire. Along with his brothers William and Stephen, he is said to have fought with the Duke of Monmouth in his rebellion against King James II, and to have fled England after the defeat of the rebel army at Sedgemoor, 5 July 1685, to escape trial and "almost certain death at the hands of that human tiger, the notorious Judge Jeffreys."768
