Notes for Mindwell Royce
The Ohio D.A.R. publication follows Davis in misidentifying her.261 There are two sets of cousins in Wallingford, both with sisters named Mindwell and Keziah, so one needs to be careful.
Military Notes for Josiah (Spouse 1)
He served in Capt. Bunnel's Company from Wallingford, CT, 1775, Wadsworth's Brigade, Col. Douglas Regt. Served at Brooklyn in Battle of Long Island. He was with the main army at White Plains, New York. A private in Capt. Stanley's Company, 1776, Col. Gay's Bttn., raised to reinforce Washington at New York.
Misc. Notes
He lived in the house in Yalesville which was occupied by Harly Morse until about 1870. Josiah Mix came from Connecticut to settle in Portage County, Ohio in 1816. He had been there to visit earlier. His son Josiah Jr had come and settled in 1805.267

Josiah Mix's Will

"In the name of the benevolent Father of all, I, Josiah Mix of Rootstown, Portage County and State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say. 1^o it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid; 2^o I give, devise, and bequeath to my beloved wife Keziah Mix, during her natural life all the rents, profits, issues & emuoloments of thirty-two acres of land in the Township of Rootstown on lot No. 4 in the original survey of sd. Township: Bounded as follow, to wit: south by the highway; east by land owned by Beman & Ephraim Chapman; north by land belonging to
Francis Chapman; west by land belonging to Stephen Chapman, containing the above mentioned quantity of land be the same more or less; 3^o I give & bequeath to my said wife all my household furniture, goods and chattels and personal property that I may posess at the time of my decease to dispose of as she thinks best; 4^o I give and dives at the time of my wifes decease the above described
tract of land to my children to be equally divided between them; And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my son Samuel R. Mix Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me, ratifying and confirming this. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 13th day of November, A.D. 1838

Testimony
