Notes for Thomas Sr. (Spouse 1)
Thomas Bascomb was in Dorchester in 1634, in Windsor 1639, and in Northampton in 1655 (Barrow) or 1661. Barrow states that he was appointed a commissioner there in 1655 and has several instances of him in the town before 1661. His house was on the east side of Hawley Street, at the corner of Bridge Street. There is a disagreement as to where he came from between Banks (1937) and Mrs. J.D. Bascom (1932) "Bascom and Allied Families." He came on the "Recovery of London" in 1634 (Nat. Gen. Soc. Quarterly, v. 71, p. 172) and was listed as "Thomas Biscomb". But Barrow (1984) puts him on the "Mary and John" in 1630. Also see Bascom, J.D., 1932. She states that the first evidence for him in Northampton is on 5-14-1661.

WILL: Date: 8 JUL 1679 Place: Northampton, Hampshire, MA

Harris380 also has various details of his life, and Bouley382 also has a brief discussion of him. He moved from Mattapan (Dorchester), Massachusetts, to Windsor, Connecticut, in 1639. Three of his children were born in Windsor. He moved to Northampton, Massachusetts, and hea and his wife became members of the church there in 1661. Elected Constable of Northampton in 1666, made freeman in 1670. He took the oath of allegiance in 1678.
