Notes for John B. Smith
John was quite well off at the time of the 1870 census, with $15,000 of real estate and $15,000 of personal estate listed. Both of his parents are listed as having been born in Ohio, according to the 1880 census. The data provided on Carrie's death certificate gave his name as "Frank." That information was provided by Carrie's son Murray. I have the name from the 1870 census, which shows John, Fidelia, and Carrie, and I feel the census data is more accurate.

Notes for Fidelia (Spouse 1)
Her father was born in Massachusetts and her mother in Ohio according to the 1900 census, the 1880 census has them both born in Connecticut.. She was living with her daughter and son-in-law at the time of the 1900 census. She was shown as having been married for 40 years at that time, but her husband was not listed. She was still living with them in 1920, but was not shown as a widow. A letter from Carrie S. Hobart to Margaret L. Hobart, mailed 15 January 1935 from Greenfield, Ohio, shows that Fidelia was still living with her daughter on that date.
