Cimmeron/Ashtabula Class Fleet Oiler / Jumbolized: Laid down as a Maritime Commission type (T3-S2-A3) tanker hull, under Maritime Commission contract, (MC hull 2702), at Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock, Chester, PA.; Launched, 30 August 1945; Commissioned USS Navasota (AO-106), 27 February 1946; Jumbolized, October 1963 to December 1964 at Puget Sound Bridge and Drydock Co., Plant No. 2, Harbor Island, Seattle, WA.; Decommissioned, 13 August 1975; Placed In-Service with MSC as USNS Navasota (T-AO-106), 1975; Placed Out-of-Service c. 1991; Struck from the Naval Register, 2 January 1992; Final Disposition, sold for scrapping by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service, 25 October 1995. Navasota received nine battle stars for Korean War service.
