When the USS Odysseus was found adrift in space by the USS Quasar, it was decided that the vessel would be repaired and returned to service. Given the extensive damage the vessel had sustained, it was decided that a partial redesign would be needed to bring the ship up to current standards. Combining elements of both the Pegasus and Miranda classes, the new Odysseus should serve for many years to come.
This design was concieved based on my desire to rebuild its predecessor. At the request of a friend of mine, who had seen a miniature I had built like this, I opted to design the refitted Odysseus based on the Reliant, rather than the Enterprise-A.
