Adeptus Astartes-Hell Hounds

Here are a few selected miniatures from the Space Marine force I built from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 line.
They have been painted to represent members of the Hell Hounds Chapter.

A few general notes first. Following construction and cleaning of the various miniatures, I gave most of them a base coat of flat black. This was then drybrushed over with Ral Partha's Aged Metal.
On most of the figures, the right shoulder and left boot were then painted medium grey. The basic black hound silouhette was then painted onto the shoulder pad. Following this, a black was was applied to the grey areas.
Copper was used to highlight the chest emblems or piping(depending on the figure). This was also given a black wash.
After the washes were dry, the red eyes on the insignia, the red gems, and the red eyes on the helmets were painted.

THE HELL HOUNDS

THE MASTER OF THE HOUNDS

The leader of the Hell Hounds. His armor dates back to the very founding of the Chapter itself.

The figure itself is a converted Abaddon the Despoiler. I used my moto-tool to remove all of the Chaos insignia from the armor. I removed a couple of other details with the tool as well. I then painted the figure in the appropriate colors for the Hell Hounds.
The claws and power blade were painted with Aged Metal and then drybrushed with flourescent blue.

PACKMASTER

This figure represents one of the ten Company Commanders, or Packmasters, from the Chapter.
Note his copper helmet and red cloak as well as the copper wolf's head visible on his left shoulder.
This figure started out as an old Space Wolves Captain.

SPIRIT HOUNDS

The spiritual leaders for the Chapter. They serve the function that Chaplains do in other Chapters.
This Spirit Hound is wearing Mark 2 Tactical Dreadnought, or Terminator, Armor. To signify his status as Chaplain, his shoulder, boot, and helmet are grey as the rest of his brethren, but his armor is bone or white in color instead of the traditional black.
This figure's arms were repositioned from their standard and a power sword from another miniature was glued into his left fist.

BLOOD HOUND

A Blood Hound for the Hell Hounds. They serve the same functions as Apothecaries do in other chapters.
Note the red armor in place of the standard black. The red makes him easily distinguishable to his comrades in the field. Note also the smaller chapter badge on his right shoulder.

VETERAN PACK LEADER

Here was have a Veteran Pack Leader from one of the Chapter's Tactical Squads. Clearly visible on his right shoulder is the chapter badge.
His grey helmet denotes him as a Pack Leader, the equivalent of Sergeant in other Chapters.

VETERAN PACK LEADER IN
TERMINATOR ARMOR

Here we see a Veteran Pack Leader wearing Tactical Dreadnought Armor. His copper colored helmet and power sword differentiate him from his brothers in the pack.

MARINE IN
TERMINATOR ARMOR

Only the best of the Chapter's warriors get the honor of wearing one of the ancient suits of Tactical Dreadnought, or Terminator Armor. These marines serve only in the First Company.

STANDARD MARINE

This figure represents one of the 1000 Space Marines populating the chapter.
He was converted from Games Workshop's original boxed set of plastic Space Marines. Both arms have been heavily modified as to their positioning

DEVASTATOR MARINE

This Marine, from one of the Chapter's Devastator Squads, is armed with an experimental version of the Missile Launcher. Note the grey stripe on his helmet denoting him as a member of the Devastator Squad.
The basic figure came from the old Space Marines boxed set. The Missile Launcher that he is carrying was cobbled together from various spare parts that came with the kit.

STANDARD BEARER

Like with the soldiers of old, one of the greatest honors that a Space Marine can have is to be chosen as the Company's Standard Bearer.
This figure started life as an old Commander figure. The power Sword that was in his right hand was removed and the hand hollowed out to hold the pole for the standard. The standard itself was made with a couple of toothpicks. The banner was drawn on an old reciept and then painted by hand and glued to the standard.
