"The Other Side"

This ship finds its origins in some role-playing sessions between me and my wife.
She takes her name from the song "Don't Pay The Ferryman."

This particular model got its start as the courier USS Red Dragon which I had decided to do away with.

I started by removing the warp nacelles and front canards from the Red Dragon.
I wound up removing the nose section temporarily in order to place a weight in the nose so the model would rest properly on its landing gear.
After replacing the nose and smoothing out a couple of flaws, it was time to repaint the ship.
To cover the varying shades of white, blue, and grey from the Red Dragon, I first gave the whole model a coat of grey primer.
I then gave the model a base coat of Testors Gloss Dark Blue.
Once this was dry, I went in and added a few details. You can see here the "vertical lift thrusters" and "boarding ramp" that I painted on in black and trimmed in red.
For the top, I painted on a new cockpit and added a few other details in black.

All in all, I think I like her this way better than I did as the Red Dragon.
