This started out as a little something to occupy myself during a slow day at work. I may do a larger, better detailed version when I get through my model backlog.
| This model started life as a 1/144 scale F-14 Tomcat. I started by seeing what it would look like if I gave it forward swept wings and went from there. With the wings done, I bent the rear wings up at about a 20 degree angle. I then took the vertical fins and glued them to the forward fuselage as canards. As a final touch, and to make it look less like an F-14, I chopped the first 1/4 inch off of the nose at about a 45 degree angle. |

When the time came to paint it, I was limited to what we had in the toolbox
at work. I started with a base coat of Testors Aluminum, and then painted areas of the body in Ral Partha brown. With that done, I painted the wheels, main engines, and cockpit in Ral Partha Steel. I also painted the inside of the new nose with Steel as well. Unfortunately, as you can see, the brown cracked all over the place. I may go back and fix this at another time. |
