VF-11 MAX
RED LADY ONE

I found this little Macross kit at the hobby shop where I used to work. It drew my attention because it is probably the only FEMALE veritech fighter I have ever seen.
This kit was 1/144 scale and contained both the plane and battroid forms.

She was built according to the kit instructions. I did, however glue the model together in an effort to help hide the seams found in a snap together kit.
I threw the painting instructions pretty much out the window, but I did try and keep the colors consistent between the fighter and battroid modes.
Here you can see where the red paint I used as a base coat started bubbling during the drying process. Given the small size of the model, I opted to not try and repair the finish for fear of losing what detail the paint hadn't already obscured.
Using a base coat of red, i opted to detail the "boots" and "gloves" with steel and copper. I also did some detailing in white. The whole model, given its size, was given a black wash to bring out detail.
The whole thing went together very well, but I wish the red base coat hadn't caused so much distortion.
The battroid is made almost fully poseable by the use of rubberized parts supplied by Bandai for all of the major joints. The gun was painted with aged metal and a black wash
I decided to try and make the face look a little more human. I apologize for the quality of the paint job, but please try and keep in mind that this pic is about 4 times the size of her actual face.
