USS Wanderer NCC-1512

Here we see the predecessor to the Pegasus and Explorer classes.
She was, in reality, designed some time after her so-called successors, but for the sake of "trek" history. She preceded them and was built around the same time as the original Enterprise.

I started with the classic 18" ERTL Enterprise and went from there. The hull addidtion was constructed from cardboard and popsicle sticks. It was then smoothed out with putty. A notch was then cut in the top to accomodate the old connecting dorsal. The back 1 1/2" of each nacelle was removed and rotated into the appropriate position for the new configuration.
I cut off the back half of the secondary hull and then inserted it upside down into the front half in order to get the correct, smaller length of the assembly, as well as to get the shuttlebay oriented correctly. The joint was then puttied and sanded smooth. New slots were cut into the hull in order to accomodate the new location of the nacelle struts. A pair of sticks from corn dogs were inserted through the hull, joining the two nacelle struts and giving the assembly needed support.
