And My First Change
The napping tiger in front of her tree awakes, and then shifts into his normal
form. Vendui' milady. He says, smiling.
I'm glad to finally get a chance to talk to you. Shadowcat
says, sighing in relief.
As am I, for truly there has been a gap in our verbal
communication. the weretiger responds.
Shall we go to the Pond? she says as she pulls on her
cloak.
Sure, he replies as he walks to a tree and grabs a spair
set of cloths from a hole in the trunk. Let us be off then.
She starts off in the direction of the Moon Pond Shall we?
Her agitation is obvious. I'm a little nervous about this. My first
change and all.
Ahh. The drow replies, but it'll be fun to see
thing that dos never noticed before, like the sound of a bird a good mile
off or more.
Shadowcat looks nervously toward the moon and smiles.
True. She looks nervous and distracted as they approach
the pond.
milady dos has nothing to be nervous about, it's part of dosstan
life now, embrace it.
She shakes her head slightly. That's not what's bothering
me,
He frowns slightly. Then what is milady?
We'll talk after I change, I promise. she replies.
I'll take dos on that promise milady, for truly I wish nau problems
to distract dos from dosstan training. Sensing her agitation, he
continues. Milady, remember I'm an elf, some of the best ears in
the world, and I'm listening.
She quickly changes the subject. How soon after the moon rises will
I change?
He notes her aversion. It depends in the clouds, but most likely
the first time the full moonlight touches dosstan skin.
As they reach the pond, she turns her back to him. He sees her clothing fall
to the ground beside her, though she keeps her cloak in place.
He walks over to his favorite tree, and finds the hole to where he shall
stash his own clothes. She looks to the sky for the moon while placing her
own clothes in a good spot. He removes his tunic while awaiting a clear sky.
He can see the silver glint through her hair in the moonlight as he unhooks
his cloak and folds it neatly to fit in the hole. Hesitatingly, she removes
her own cloak and places it with her own clothes, while her companion takes
his weapons belt and makes sure to place it safely in the tree. She places
her own weapons into her clothes' hiding place and looks again at him.
So milady, ready to run through the forest, the way rangers can
only dream of?
She blushes. Xas, as ready as I will ever be. she says,
though he can still see some apprehension in her face.
Milady, I truly wish dos would tell me what is wrong, but I'll wait
as dos has already promised to tell me of dosstan troubles.
She rubs her hands over her shoulders. I feel kind of tingly all
over.
Xas, well dos is changing, he explains, the likes
of which dosstan body has not yet exprienced.
Drannur, I'm scared. she admits with a slight quiver in
her voice.
Ahh... well we all are our first times, he admits.
I was and if dos were ask any of the other weres in the grove they
to would admit to those same feelings.
How long will it take? The young woman asks. I'm
starting to itch.
A little longer the first time, but after that it becomes easier
over time. He replies. Not too long, milady. Worry
not.
The worry is obvious in her face as he bends down and starts unlacing his
boots. Milady, try and relax, dos will be fine.
I'll try. she replies, smiling weakly.
He chuckles. Milady the more dos worries, the longer it'll seem to
take.
She laughs a little You're probably right. She thinks
for a minute. Is there any way I can encourage the process?
He places his boots in the hole, and begins to remove his trousers.
The moon should be out any minute, milady. And xas, if dos keeps
getting worked up, dos may lose contral over the change.
She tries to calm herself and spreads her arms to the building moonlight.
Feel the light flow through dosstan skin milady and feel it's
energy.
I can feel it. She nods in response. It's almost
electric.
Xas, and that energy will build to a great warmth within
dos.
I can feel that already. She nods again. It almost
feels like I'm on fire.
Well, worry not. There shall be nau pain, though dos shall sweat
as if near to a fire.
She nods again, biting her lip.
He grins. Milady, if dos does that too often, dosstan lip will
bleed.
She laughs as he begins stretching to loosen his muscles from his long nap.
She admires his form as he stretches.
He turns his stretch into a bow as he notices her eyes. Thank
dos.
She averts her eyes, blushing. You're welcome.
He laughs. As I said, heightened senses. as well as a sixth
sense.
I hope to learn all of that. She replies, smiling slightly.
Dos shall, for if I can't teach it, it will come naturally.
She closes her eyes as the warmth within her builds. She seems lost as if
in some kind of euphoria.
It is near, milady, give in to it and hesitate not. He
says, trying to encourage her.
She doesn't seem to hear him, but her breathing gets deeper and more regular.
He watches as the fur slowly starts to sprout across her form. Her eyes open
in amazement as the shape of her face begins to change to that of a tiger.
A long tail sprouts from her spine as she falls to all fours. Her arms and
legs slowly become the legs of the great cat, and it is over. Before him
stands a tiger.
He quickly assusmes his own four-legged form and begins to show her a new
world of wonders that most humans and their like never notice. She revels
in the grace and power of her new form as they run through the area surrounding
the Moon Pond. Minutes seem like hours as they prowl the woods. She loses
all track of time as the moon shines over the two black and silver tigers.
Finally, her companion shifts back to his human form. Now, milady.
It is time for dosstan first lesson in being were.
She stops before him, standing in almost the exact spot where she had first
assumed the tigers form.
He looks at her intently. Dos has done well tonight. he
nods to himself. It is time now for dos to try changing on dosstan
own.
She looked at him with a little concern crossing her now-feline features.
All dos must do is concentrate. he tells her calmly.
Picture dosstan form as it is in human guise.
He watches as she closes her eyes in in intense concentration.
Feel the same energy dos felt when dos first changed.
he explains. Let it flow through dos and change with its
flow.
It seems to her to take an eternity, but she reverts slowly to human form.
She looks exhilerated. That was amazing! she says, smiling
widely.
He bows. As most first changes are, milady.
Now I really envy my mother. she says with a look of reverie
on her face.
It suprises me she didn't pass the gift to dos.
It wasn't hers to pass. she replied, frowning slightly.
It was a gift from her god, not her blood.
Ahhh, he replies in acknowledgement. Well, my
stripes were a gift from my goddess, otherwise i'd just be a black
tiger.
Mom's decided I would have to earn it on my own
As dos have and so shall continue.
She smiles and chuckles slightly. I guess you're right.
I believe I am. He replies with a grin.
Her look turns serious again, and she turns slightly away from him.
Milady, dos really must tell me whats wrong. He
says, concern in his voice
I know. It's hard for me, though...
Well try milady, he says, trying to reassure her.
Dos will find that I don't judge just listen.
She smiles only slightly, the barest hint of tears in her eyes. Part
of what's bothering me is dos, my friend.
He offers the lady a hankerchief. Here milady dos may find dos will
need this. Then her words sink in. Me? How so?
She takes the handkerchief. Thanks.
Nau problem.
I've been through so much since arriving here, it's hard to be sure
of anything. she tells him.
Milady, in truth, that is a problem always for everyone.
She puts her hand on his cheek, tears obvious in her eyes now.
Drannur, I... she starts.
He reaches up and takes her hand. Milady, really, whats
wrong?
She looks away from him. I think I'm in love with you.
she blurts out as she starts to cry.
His eyes flash a deep feral green. I see, milady.....
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. she says apologetically
as she looks away again.
Dos didn't upset me, milady, only caught me by surprise.
he replies.
You don't mind? she says as she looks back to him.
Nau milady, he starts, dos has nau idea just
how long it as been since anyhave shown any interest in this drow.
It was you who showed interest in me as well, Drannur,
she replied, more than anyone in the grove.
He could feel her heart racing. Well I guess it was becuase it would
be nice to have another of my kind in the grove. And, well, dos was the first
person who had ever even thought about joining my life.
It's not just the gifts dos has given me, Drannur. she
explains. It's the way dos behaves in the grove, always a voice
for calm. Dos never has anything bad to say of anyone.
Well, milady, he replies. In truth I am what
some would call a monk of sorts,
and I believe in wisdom as well as might of arms.
She nods. That's just what I mean. She shakes her head
slightly and turns away again.
I have always tried to be a force of neutrality, a person who looks
at both sides and... he continues. And milady in truth
I have lived a long time alone, a time in which many would go insane. I kept
my sanity only because i believe one day I would find another...
Another?
Xas, milady, one who would spent there time and share the feeling
with me.
You remind me of everything I wanted Star to be, and of everything
he was.
Star? he asks in confusion. Milady, I'm afraid
this name is not known to me.
Star was my mate on the World of Two Moons, now lost to me
forever. she explains as she starts to cry again.
Milady, I am sorry for dosstan loss, I have known many such
losses. He replies as his own eyes start to glow and water over.
The problem I am having is that I think I love you more than I ever
did him. she confesses.
Well if that is true then may I truly be to dos what he was and
more.
She thought for a moment. Drannur? she asked.
Maybe my losing Star was part of Mielikki's plan all along.
Well, milady, in this universe we live a soul does not die as long
as it is remembered.
I'm not sure dos understands what I mean. she begins,
shaking her head. Maybe Mielikki wanted me here all along, to be
with you and gain your gifts.
In truth dos may be right, he agreed. But then,
one never truly known the motives of the gods
She nods. True.
And if dos was meant to be here with me. he comments.
Then truly I am a lucky man.
She steels herself. I would like to be with you, Drannur.
she tells him. I want to stay here with you.
As I would like to have dos here, and be for dos all that I
may. he replies.
Do you mean that? she replies, looking hopeful.
Xas, with all the magic in this universe and with all that makes
me, what I am.
She throws her arms around him. I love you, Drannur
Do'Rinn!
He can't help but smile as the lady hangs on him. And I dos,
milady.
There are tears in her eyes as she replies. Thank you, Drannur.
Thank you.
He feels fur come up on her back and then fade again as he wipes the tears
from her eyes. Nau, milady, thank dos for giving a drow a reason
to live.
Without another word, she kisses him. He wraps his arms about her and returns
her kiss. As she melts in his embrace, he holds on to her so that nothing
will ever take her from him.
Dos has made me the happiest woman in the grove, she whispers.
I am dosstan from this day on.
He smiles his feral smile. Well, I too can say the same, though
nau woman am I.
She smiles.
Then, milady, may I prove worthy of dos, from this day on.
I have nau doubt dos will, Drannur.
As I have nau doubt that this will stay with me for the rest of
my days here. And truly may those be LONG days and the most beautiful
nights. he says as she nestles her head into his shoulder. She
smiles and sighs contentedly. He, on the other hand, hasn't been able yet
to hide the large feral smile playing across his face.
