Haleanar Elizabeth Domnaja grew up on the frontier world of Theta Sigma III. She heard many tales of the various races that could be encountered in that part of the galaxy, as well as the tales of the possible consequences of meeting those races.
These tales fascinated the young woman to no end,

She opted to join the Navy as soon as she could legally do so. Though her "wild side" brought her to the Security division, she also studied mutagens and their effects mostly out of curiosity.

While at the academy, Lea had something of a reputation. It wasn't the normal one you would expect from an attractive young woman, though. Her reputation was that she must hate everybody. This was derived from the fact that she had no "romantic entanglements" during her entire time at the academy. She had very few close friends of any sort, either.
She was often described to be "frigid" by many male cadets who had at one time or another approached her.

She was put through several simulated transformations during her final year at the academy and showed more curiosity than anything else. She wanted to know the results of the change rather than how to reverse it. This adaptability was what led to her eventual posting on the Scylla.

Though assigned as a Security officer, her scientific background makes her a candidate to be included on many 'away' missions.

Before joining the Scylla's crew, she was assigned to observe a "party" where transformations were rumored to be expected. She got a little close to her research, however, and wound up slightly altered.
She has the ability to assume a felinoid form. This is a result of the interaction of several transformational agents she was exposed to during this so-called "party."

Most of the changes this new form brings about are purely cosmetic in nature. with the addition of fur to her face and body. A functional tail does grow at these times, as well as functional claws, but these changes are not supernatural in anyway. She also does not gain any other cat-like abilities during these form changes.
Her transfer to the Scylla went as scheduled so that she could be observed in a more 'natural' environment. Although she was 4 hours late reporting for duty.

Following a couple of "incidents" on ship, her metamorphic abilities manifested themselves.

Further analysis of her DNA by the Scylla's medical staff has discovered that it is very adaptable. She could be described as "vulnerable" to mutagens. This analysis also showed, however, that her body's reactions to said mutagens may not always be what is expected as its very mutability tends to add and/or subtract things of its own. She will definitely change, but not per standard reactions.

Whether this condition existed prior to her exposure to the mutagenic agents at the so-called "party" she attended is unknown at this time.

She has been able to revert to human form, but the feline tail has been most stubborn about being removed.
Full control, or any sort of control in fact, of these changes has eluded her so far.
