Concieved as a bridge between the D-7 series and the Bird of Prey, the
Deathbird has proven to be a formidable opponent
whenever it has been faced. The combination of a cloaking device and two
forward firing torpedo tubes is devastating.
The Starfire began life as a set of 20 Deathbirds traded to the Romulans
as part of a technology exchange agreement.
The Deathbirds were shipped without engines or weaponry per Romulan request.
The 20 hulls were then refitted with Romulan bridges, engines, shield systems,
and weapons.
The basic weapon configuration of the Deathbird was kept, but with 2 fewer
disruptors. It should prove as formidable as its Klingon counterpart.
