The Enterprise Incident

A couple of years ago, some of my friends decided that I would like a "challenging" kit for Christmas and got me Ertl's "Legendary Space Encounter-The Enterprise Incident." It took me a year and a half to get up the nerve to tackle this kit give that it represents the smallest ships I have ever tried, or ever will try, to light.

I was daunted at first, but followed the kit instructions verbatim for the most part where assembly was concerned.

There were a couple of flaws in the Enterprise herself(notably the turboshaft for the bridge being placed on the FRONT of the bridge.) I corrected these as best I could given the small scale of the kit. Due to a lack of the right color silver-grey paint for the hull, i wound up painting the Enterprise a base white instead. I detailed her based on notes from CultTVMan's pages and then went on to the Klingons.

The uppermost of the two D-7s was built and painted straight according to the Ertl instructions. The second one was also built per instructions, but was then battle-damaged using model glue and matches. I still need to go back in and add the strands for the stars in the background, and maybe a couple fo strands for "phaser beams" coming from the Enterprise to the second D-7.
All in all, however, I am fairly pleased with the results.
