Joseph Olsen A Generous and Helpful Man
Truly his 'Brothers Keeper'
Joe was a very generous man with a good business mind. He helped take care of Ole's farm when Ole was called on a mission to Norway. It was no easy task. Land needed to be cleared, high mortgage payments had to be made to keep the farm. Any extra money Joe made was sent to Ole to help him.
In 1899, Joe's brothers, T.E. and Chris were called on missions. Again, Joe volunteered to take care of his two brothers farms - at the same time. Joe had to rent out his own farm so he could take on the added responsibility. Joe was manage of the Olsen Family Cooperative - The Olsen Sheep Company. He held the position for ten years. Joe homesteaded and acquired 760 acres which he dryfarmed. Joe farmed for over 30 years.
Joe was honest, prayerful and happy he could call himself a full tithe payer.
